Oh Tracey...what a heartbreaker. Poor old thing.

If I had enough money, that is what I'd have, an Old Horse Home. These poor old dears deserve to spend their last years and days being loved and cared for.

That is the sad part, Dol will be 18 this spring, people guess her to be 5 or 6, this poor gal looks depressed. I am guessing no papers, so maybe the age is a guess?

If anyone cares to get her this way, we'll take her in. I'm a sucker for old, arthritisy ones! But I promised my husband I wouldn't actually PURSUE any more!

Better hurry, guys...this one's a candidate for slaughter...any horse priced under kill price is a sure bid for the killer buyers. That's why I swore when I got into this business, I'd never sell a horse for under kill price. These people might not even intend that. But the killers are getting smart...they even send women to buy the horse. Load it into a trailer and bang...they're gone.

That is what scared me when I saw it Carol, I am sure they are just trying to move her, but at that price. If she is still around when i revcover from Christmas I will see what I can do.

The house is cold 'cuz they can't pay the heat,
Gramma's ailing, and can't feel her feet.
Baby is cryin as the milk went a touch sour
Family feels like its the eleventh hour.

No tree, no tinsel, just some homespun carols
Around a "bonfire" Pappy lit in a barrel.
Dinner is poor, they killed the last chicken
A few carrots and beans is all the fixens

Dodie sat in the stall on Christmas day
It was quite empty, just left over hay.
Dad had to sell Smokey to keep family going
and its getting deep, it won't quit snowing.

Down the road the neighbors delight
In some leftover pecan pie on Christmas night.
"What a same about Smoke, they sold him so cheap"
says Rob as he eyes his fancy new Jeep.

Karl plays vehemently on his new video game,
Joanie is busy giving her new doll a name.
Wrapping paper and bows being cleaned up tomarrow,
no one knows about their neighbor's kid's sorrow.

Dodie was found the next day in the stall
half frozen and grieving curled up in a ball.
Barely alive in the hospital, it ain't no joke,
All the poor kid could say is "Please pray for my Smoke".

Merry Christmas ya'll, enjoy your gifts.

silent night, holy night
where is God to put things right
:?:
life is filled with torture and trials
it's up to us to share our smiles

dig deep, dig deep if you care
you'll find one more smile will be there ;-)

someone pointed out to me that the way she is standing may indicate her arthritis is causing her more pain than they are letting on? Is that right? And that she's coonfooted (???)

She does appear to be sore the way she is standing. But, that could just be a bad picture taken at a bad time as well. I hope someone gets this mare. She looks so sad.

I think Paintedhorizon is right, from the picture, it looks like she is in alot of pain. And I would bet she is alot older than 20. She reminds me of a neigbhors 30 yr old arab that had very bad arthritis. One day last winter it took 5 of us (including 2 men) to get her back up after she had fallen on the ice. They had her put down before something like that happened again this winter. I don't know and I am only guessing (and I am not trying to start a battle) but if this mare is that bad, then the kindest thing would be to put her down. And it might be, again I don't know, the family might be trying to avoid the expense and heartache of putting her down and burying her themselves. On the other hand it could be a little gloucosimine and some TLC would do her wonders, if that is the case I hope a kind person brings her home.
