We rode a parade with the posse today... I was so proud of Michico. He has not been ridden in three months and when I rode a short stretch last night he was such an idiot... He didn't walk, spent the time side passing, snorting, shying, jumping up and down, and in general being a turd. Today my BO and I took our horses to the parade. While I prepared Michico by the trailer he snorted, bounced in place, and in general kept the theme of being an idiot, but as soon as I was on he settled down and handled it as the pro he is. He didn't even spook when some parent pulled a kid in a little wagon, with about 20 balloons attached, right under his nose. I saw them coming and thought... ... Here we go. He was such a trooper and only backed up a couple of steps. Then a woman with a pink umbrella came running less than two feet in front of Michico, the only thing he did was to raise his head and snort. He's certainly been in several parades each year these four years I've had him, he knows his job and does it well. I was so proud of him.

What a trooper Michico is. I just love him. Give him a big hug from me for being such a good boy. You know he is just telling you he is ready for NYC next year. ;-)

I think he did GREAT, considering the past 3 months! LOL He looks awesome Elaine, what a pretty boy! Congratulations on a nice ride. I had a violinist on a unicyle in front of me in the Days of 47 parade a few years ago. You should have seen the horses try to figure out what THAT was! LOL

Thanks... Since I go with the posse we're usually right between the fire truck horns and the police sirens, but we did go in after the marching band one year... that year we had several horses misbehave  This year there was a guy in a homemade airplane going by, while we waited in the line-up, who was worthy of quite serious snorting.

Michico is much better under saddle than when I'm on the ground. He is always a scaredy cat but has learned to totally trust me, but somehow he sidesteps, snorts, and flinches less when I'm on his back than on the ground. That is also why he's so good at something that is scary, he settles down and trusts my judgement, but since it is scary he pays attention. At home he's a complete turd because it's not scary and I haven't ridden enough lately and he wants to be a turd.

Yeah, mine have trouble with the band too. I think it's the Tubas and the Trumpets. They just look TOO weird and the trumpets have all the shinny moving stuff...scary! LOL

Great pics, as always. :D Years ago, I was in a parade with my horse and we were in the parking lot waiting to start when the bagpipers started filling their bags. That is the weirdest sound! The horses were completely freaked, yet the parade officials insisted the pipers go right before us. Thank goodness, the horses got used to the sounds...the music didn't seem to bother them as much as the filling of the bags. :D

He's not wearing a PINK hat. He is wearing a red white and blue viser. I think he looks very patriot.

He was ready to show off for you Hast. You must be so proud. Great pictures.

LOL, considering that my family consists of males I would never get away with pink on a male horse...

This is what he had on... And not thrilled about it as you can see. LOL

Thanks, Elaine, I've been too busy(and too tired later!)to get online the past few days, and the pics look great!

I must tell everyone that Michico, Dina and Hast are here, and I went trailriding with Michico and Elaine the past 2 days, Painted Horizon (Michele)went today too.....and we had a blast, but above all...

....the pictures dont do Michico justice, he is MUCH more handsome in person, and a great ride too!(yes, Elaine gave me permission! She musta seen my tongue hanging out)
