http://home.earthlink.net/~pasofino23/index/Aviso-Jump.jpg This was taken around 1981. We use to jump picnic tables in this park also, don't think I would try it now!

Nice jump shot! The things we didn't bat an eye at when we were younger!
;-)
I always spent my time convincing spoiled Pasos I (re)trained to stay _down_, but - looks like I'll have to add to the Pasos-can-jump thread with a late '70s pic.. we didn't have the greatest form, but it was a clean jump...

Well IF I had kids, I probably wouldn't let them do a lot of the things I used to do! :D Picnic tables aren't much different than the Cross Country jumps I did on my Paint during Event Trails. Although as you see I didn't wear a helmet then, I wouldn't ride without my helmet now(except at shows). If Aviso could have done the dressage phase of Eventing I would have ridden him at the trials.

Why sure Pasos can jump! At the Fonda show this past weekend, the jump for Versatility (AND trail class!) was set at 2 feet. Marci cleared that with air to spare! IF I had had more time, I would have tried her up to 3 feet, as that is the maximum jump height specified in the PFHA rules for Versatility class.
I'm also considering find a hunter-jumper show or two locally and showing Marci there - we should be able to do the 2'6" course with no problems!

My gelding, Jedi, has been photographed free-jumping in a ring 3'6". Recently, while staying at a friend's place, he decided he would rather be on the other side of the fence with the other horses. No problema! He jumped a 4' gate with inches to spare according to my friend. I've jumped him 2'6 or so and he is very good. He jumps very efficiently and confidently. Has a great bascule and tucks nicely; no dragging of the fore or hind feet. He is a solid 14.2H with great bone and hooves. Perhaps I should forget endurance with him and go to open jumper classes....

Yeah they can jump! Rio jumped a 43 inch door when he was 5 months old!!! Just reared back and launched after the vet got done with his shots while we were standing there chatting...

Pitty can jump! I had a hunter/jumper trainer tell him he had excellent form and a lot of spring!
I'm scared of heights so we hardly ever jump. Plus the legs aren't as young as they used to be, and the little brilliant Paso mind is slightly lazier these days... ;-)

Yes, pasos can jump. Mine loves to jump things on the trail. He will jump in the arena too and has cleared the 2 ft rails, but he always bucks after he gets over it. I dont know why. Must be he gets so excited about it. He always jumps over creeks and logs on the trail. I like to jump these things but he needs to learn to walk through water too, in case the stream is too wide to jump.

My boy can jump too... he jumps like a deer  but he jumps. ;-)

When Pete was a 2yr old I moved him to a stall across the aisle so his stall could dry out. There were mares in the pasture on that side of the barn that little Pete found irresistable, so he just jumped out the window. The CLOSED window, took the whole thing with him, framing and all. Easily 4 feet off the ground. Yikes! Cleared it without a scratch.
Catching him back up was another adventure in itself...
