View Full Version : Christian Response to Various Comments

Feeling that my Christian faith and Christians are being ridiculed, I had to respond. Sometimes, titles are misleading, but this is clear, so nobody has to read about my faith. If anyone wants to celebrate their differing faith with positve statements, I'm not offended.
Where is Jesus? In my heart with His Spirit comforting me. If it weren't for my faith, I don't know how I would have made it without others in surgical waiting rooms. God actually sends what I need, such as a minister of my faith in a different city in an ICU waiting room.
For the most part, Christians were the ones to support me during this most difficult year and some other bad ones. A friend of my mother's, whom I didn't really know, offered to drive me about 2 hours away if necessary. A friend did drive my husband different times, feeling that emotionally, he shouldn't be driving. Christians, that I hadn't met, shocked me with offers.
If you think, I'm not supportive of you, I'm sorry! I've learned to avoid this place a lot during times of trouble. There's too much negativity for me to handle at times. Time doesn't always permit me to read everything, that is clearly marked, that I'd like.
If one is wondering why I have problems, I was never promised a life without them. I'm promised the strength to endure. Through problems, I am better able to help others and I'm drawn closer to God. Peace!
Cyndy
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.
2 Corinthians 1:3-5 NIV

Do any of you folks making your "yeah Jesus" comments think you are offending people that don't believe in him?

This is why I've always felt it best to keep ALL religion off the BB. There are plenty of places for religion, including all Christian BBs. I have seen religion, and arguements over it, send more people away from this BB then anything else. It always ends up hurting people - either like Cyndy or non-Christians who have been told they're unwelcome here (I should clarify, this happened on the old BB).
I don't think people who quote scriptures or praise Jesus in their signature blocks would care for anti-Christian or anti-Christ signatures if others did the same to them. Let us all remember the Golden Rule.
I don't agree with anti-Christian posts...I also don't agee with Christian posts here of people bearing their testimonies, or 'pushing' their religion on others. Like I said, there are other places for it.
This just is NOT the place for it, one way or the other.
JMO, but religion should be something personal.
I agree with Carol that religion should be personal and I don't push mine off on anyone else. But I do feel like I should respond when the posts are so critical of Christians. How can one be a christian if they don't stand up for Christ when someone on here is so cutting about it.I believe that being a christian(to me anyway) just means that I try to do what is right and I don't believe that all the good things that happen are "luck".I'm sure whatever anyone's religion, it probably comes out the same. Most of us must believe in some higher force---call it what you want---but respect everyone's choice---even if it is to not believe in anything.Let those that believe that there is a reason for Christmas celebrate it and if you don't believe----do what you want.I know I need to believe and I do.So maybe everyone can find a little extra time to ride or spend time with their horses during this holiday season.....here's hoping you all have some relaxing time..............

I think there is a big difference in posting that you are pro something and in posting that you are anti something. If someone posts that they are pro Allah, why would that upset anyone? But if someone posted that Allah is a big fat #$@%^, that would be offensive. Another example, we all know that Carol is very pro Parelli. There is no reason for that to offend anyone. But it would be offensive for someone to post that Parelli is a big, fat $%#@^. It a pretty simple concept and as old as the hills. If you can't say something nice, or in this case positve, perhaps you should go hit the wall instead.

Perhaps I missed where somebody said something bad about Christ? If they did, I have to agree that it totally inappropriate.

Perhaps the term "slippery little sucker" offends? I was joking for crying out loud.

I think everybody should keep it positive...about everything! No sense in beating a dead horse ;-)

Barbara it was those comments as well as the thread "Some great ideas for the holidays" that I did find somewhat offensive. That thread in particular was certainly misrepresented. But in the spirit of "all gaiting along" I have choosen to no longer "rise to the bait". But did want to support Cyndy when she stood up for her faith. I find it interesting that it is okay to provide a list of awful things to do to people who are trying to spread their faith in an "unmarked" thread but people take offense when some one makes a faith statement in clearly labeled thread no has to read.
I have a great deal of respect for all the people on this board, Christain and non Christian alike. And hope and pray we can all be respectful of each others deeply held beliefs and only stay postive.

Whoa, everyone...this is EXACTLY my point. If everyone kept their religion and non-religion off the BB, we wouldn't even be having this discussion.
Let's get back to Paso business....

Sorry if you were offended by my posting. I like Zeus and Apollo, myself. Nice butts. Good pecs, too. Not that I've met them or anything, like you have Jesus. Gee, must have been one heck of a lunch date!
Come on -- SMILE! Is anything that serious? Besides horses I mean.

Hey! Good deal! Someone with my warped sense of humor.
Listen, Christianity is fine -- as far as it goes. So is Islam. So is Judaism, Buddhism, Shintoism, Taoism, and the long long line of belief systems. There are 100 or so religions in the world. The only time any of these beliefs go wrong is when one of them stands up on its hind legs and claims to be the only one. Therein lies madness, war, poverty, disease and all the ills flesh falls heir to.
I believe in Santa Claus, myself. His reindeer don't know about all that violence, and even if they did, they'd ignore it in preference for some good hay -- just like my horses.

Of course not! Theirs are the only opinions worth having, didn't you know? However absurd, we are bound to listen to them because they have The Truth.
Meanwhile, the universe spins its merry dance, and I suspect it does so with a cosmic chuckle and appreciation for the good punch line.

It's been said over and over and over. The word is "don't make fun of other people's religion on a public board". Some have been offended, others have responded. That's enough until further notice.
