ROFL...now WHY did you put the hay in upside down??? You're probably the type that floats apples on the water trough to watch them bob too. ;-)
Actually, fun photos. That first one is awesome...great Christmas card for next year.

Barbara C. "I can smell 40 from here and it stinks"
Try my 69 and the average male life exp is 77 and 4 months, the avg female is now 80 and 3 mo I believe.
Thing that bothers me most is the "dat burn" women, out live the men so they can do 2 things:
1--Give us grief even until our death!!!
2--Can say for sure they had the last word!!!!!
But, what can I say!! without Clara no sons and no grand children.
I never have had a problem with getting older. Just glad God allows me to hang around to:
--enjoy my family esp the G-children
--Find the Paso Fino [didn't know they exsisted until I was 57yo]
--Grow in my relationship with God and do more of his work.
Yep getting old in body is surely hard on a young mind. My mind says "yep, getter done" until my body says "You better not you"ll regret it"
I do it anyway and "just pay the Piper"
I'll know I'm really getting old when I no longer can stand flat footed and jump on Poohs back [he's 14-2.5HH] bareback. lol

PasoFan, love the pictures! I particularly like the one of him up to his eyeballs in hay. I bet it is nice soft hay. Happiness is a big pile hay!

Hollis we surely can relate. No point in living a long life if you can't do any of the things you want or need to do. They call us the silent generation - those of us that were around before the baby boomers - we did what we wanted to do and needed to do and didn't see any need to talk about it. But we aren't going gently into that good night. Medical science had better make sure it keeps things working well until it's time for them to completely quit working!

I have to agree with Shelley's concern. Santiago got a bad infection this summer from getting hay in his eye. Was a bugger getting it treated and switched to feeding him on the ground. Some horses CLOSE their eyes...and some aren't that bright (apparently!).

My hay looked coarser then hers and she actually stuck a little stalk into it..and 1/2 her eye grayed up...a friend of mine who feeds rounds too her mare lost sight in one eye too..

Dont get me wrong I do understand the concern about eye injurys, but not much a person can do... Horse will be horses....
I think he does close his eyes, that is good sign!...lol
The camera I use is a Minolta semi professional Z5. I like it, and hate it too.. One thing I really hate is it doesnt take action shots hardley at all, it always blurrs. The anti shake function basically is non-exsistant, I have to take a million pics to get a few good ones.. Ok that is an exageration. lol
But yes when it does what I want, yes it will take good pics... :D

J doesn't have any problems with the Z3 except for variant lighting, like at the Lexington Horse Park indoor arena- if the doors on the end are open, it screws stuff up. Outdoors, it's da shiznit.

Santa bought me an Olympus E300 for Christmas. It has a light setting to correct for tungsten lights in arenas, and is an SLR so the shutter fires WHEN you press the release. I'm sincerely hoping it ends my blurry legs!

The eye shot of Phantom is excellent! Nicely balanced with good rhythm. It's well done and definitely mysterious!
I had to mess with an eye infection with my filly this year. You don't want to do that! She didn't want me to touch her for a while afterwards. I don't blame her for disliking having her eyes cleaned and medicated and the bute.
We figure, that it was the grass seed heads. Sometimes, we've seen a bit of irritation from it in the some of the other horses, but no infections. We mow what they haven't kept down from time to time to avoid problems. I rarely wear shorts either, those seed head are scratchy after they get so tall. I wear capris now, that I have horses.

horses like to eat the stuff at the bottom first, because that is where all the seeds end up, and tops of clover ect, "hay chaf" it is sweet!
