Yep, It's early for this duscussion, but I just got back my horse (leased out for 5 yrs) that has the gnat problem. It's been so long since I've delt with it I need a refresher course.

Anyone dealing with this? Helpfull hints please.

Scooter has a fly sheet which he despises, a full face fly mask, which he despises. And is none tolerent od some topical treatments.

MSM and vinegar? MSM will help with inflammation and possibly with any allergy, vinegar may repel them = put an unce or two on his feed.

Braid in insecticidal cow ear tag in the mane and tail. Work like a charm and lasts for months. Looks a bit silly tho. ;-)

Debbie D just told me of a new one.Dexamethasone (sp?) mixed with virgin olive oil (must be xtra virgin olive oil and say cold pressed) mix together and apply to area.She knows a horse that it worked very well on.Give it a try.
