That looks like a hot job. I bet they appreciated that though...but what about the bugs? Don't you have swarming hungry insects in this heat that will get at them? So what happens to all that hair?
I made sure all domesticated critters had plenty of clean fresh water and a shady spot to just be still in.
The next two days plan to be worse than today! Record heat for July is what the news said tonight. In fact the rest of the week looks terribly record breaking hot. Horses are chilling as much as they can.

Will they have time to re-grow their hair for winter?
Also, do they make lanolin like sheep?
Looked like a VERY hot job for you ladies!

Shame this year one had to die before it did it...still guilty....it was not our hottest day...it is today 105 with a heat index of almost 120...
I looked and I shaved all the girls last June 2005...
I also left water on for them today..

Oh Appy, it did not seem to me that heat was the cause of your Llama Mama passing. Sounds like it was an internal thing for her...not something you could have prevented.
Please try not to feel bad.
They really are pretty small when they are shaved... I love the dark colored one getting all the hugs. I think that one is my fave color. I like the rich, chocolate-y color.

Shelley, I hope you are taking care of yourself. You don't want to get overheated and pass out. Take it easy. 8-)

Maybe you should weigh the wool. Don't they sell it by the pound??
I do know a llama breeder/spinner. Want me to ask her the value of the wool?
