Hi to all of you, thanks for your prayers and caring! Surgery was Monday the 24th and went home on thrusday the 27th. Was up and on the move the day of surgery. the PT"S were there that afternoon helping me get up, walk down corridors and showing some things I could do while in bed.

The first 2 days home were really rough. Thanks to my dear friend of 30 years who stayed with me until last nite i made it thru the worst. I turly believe it was the anesthesia and morphine that made recovery so rough.

God Bless Willa! She rubbed down my legs, with lotions, cold cloths, kept the ice packs on and talked me thru 24 hours of agony. No pain just inability to rest, sleep or get comofrtable, lot of tears of frustration. That is now gone. I'm walking around the house carefully, using walker when feeling shaky. Going to therapy 3 times a week, just had my second visit today, going again tomorrow and 3x week for ???

Another friend has been keeping horses watered and checking on them. Another friend came over and cut my hugh yard and weeds waist high and is taking me to Dr and therapy apppointments. Praise God for these marvelous friends...2 of which are horse persons that I ride (did ride) with on a daily basis.

I never knew how totally helpless one can become from a simple surgery. I'm walking outdoors (ground very uneven) on walker and doing for myself in the house. I sure do miss my friend, she was not just a blessing but awesome company

Stitches come out on Monday...whooppee!..actually i should say the staples, those things are real staples! Ouch! It has been scary, crazy and funny. Midnight movies, 3 am popcorn fests (I popped the popcorn, oozing butter) and girl talk. Laughing til my sides hurt at Ice Age, crying at Walk the Line, listening to oldies.

Counting the days until I can once again ride, and drive (I'm illegal to drive for min. of a month). Again thanks for caring. Love ya all! Can't believe I was able to sit at the computer this long. First time I've been on it since surgery. Couldn't sit comfortably for more than a miniute of so. Wow only 2 pt sessions and already able to bend to 70 degrees.

Oh and Doc (my Bouvier de Flanders) my constant companion...won't hardly leave my side. Is very gentle with me, he knows something is not right is watches my every move. He is a worry wort. I love him and I miss my Tieger who is boarding until I'm steadier on my feet. that little 12 pounds of dynamite would knock me down with his love. LOL

Got to go! Catch ya later, I'm suddenly very tired! Tahnks Leila, loved talkign with you!

Keep healing and don't push yourself. So many push themselves so fast it ends up doing more damage (yeah I learned the hard way so I can preach hehe). Hope you feel better soon.

You can call them "PT's" if you want, Joni. I know better. They're "The Goon Squad"! *grin*

Joni I'm so glad you're doing well. To us the"Goon Squad" are miracle workers. What they can do to an old pain wracked body to get it functional and pain free is totally amazing! While you are recoving you might want to borrow a "rollator" if you don't have one allready. They look like a small shopping cart with a basket but have a seat and brakes and are great for when you are still unsure about just how far you can walk without pain. They cost about $100 and Sams club has them now. They are so much better than a walker because they are very stable and you can sit down when you need to safely.

Hmmm...well...my doc said don't get a rollator type walker because the wheels are too big, they go too fast for knee patients, and you won't need it more than maybe ten days anyway....

My walker was a $25.00 co-payment... and has no wheels at all....but then, it is put up in the garage now... and I'm about to wean off my cane.

Nothing' against the rollator...but you probably won't need it!

We had to fight with the physical therapists to get one for my dad (they didn't think he could handle it) but he loved it as does the man who is now borrowing it until he doesn't need it anymore so we just lend ours around which is why I suggested borrowing one. You can go as slowly as you want to with it because the brakes are great and have a lock setting and you can sit when you want to. They are also great for flea markets and DisneyWorld! ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)
