Hi,

Wow, I joined this board many moons ago and haven't been able to get back to post a hello, so anyway...Grill gleaming Hello to everyone, I hope I can find some Paso friends here.
I have been reading here today and it seems such a friendly group. I don't live near any active regional Paso clubs, so this looks great!
Me, I am not new to horses, though my paso experience is only about a year and a half old. I am very excited, I am planning on going to Nationals this year.
My horses..I have an old 22 yr old App that is my Bucephalus, I have had him since a weanling, and I am 29. He's grouchy now, but I still think he'd fight a war elephant for me if I asked him to. I also have two retired horses, a very ancient QH gelding, Red, and Robin, a paint stallion I used to own, bought him back and now he just looks pretty, does nothing else. I have a solid bay roan paint mare, Bailey and two tiny ponies, Ginger and filly.
My paso fino is Pistol, he's the spitting image of Castellano, he's a two year old colt. I am currently working with a few other pasos, and looking for a mare, or a few mares, someday I'll hopefully have a field full. I braided his mane for the first time last week, he was great for the bath, really loved the combing and picking of his mane, and braiding, but those hair bands were for sure horse eating monsters :roll
I hope to get some more pics on my computer very soon I promise, I snap photos everyday with my phone, but alas none here yet.
Good to be here though, seems like a place to meet more paso lovers. Oh, and BTW hello to Terry W, and if Jennifer is still on here you too! (Other board aquaintences)
Cheers,

Brittany

Glad to have you, but I do have some bad news, most board members are pretty grouchy, the only way to appease them is post pictures of ALL your pretty horse. Then they will be nice. Sounds like you have a nice herd there.

Hey Brittany, Why don't you see if you can make it over to the Illinois State Fair in Springfield for the Paso Fino classes August 18-19. There are nine pointed classes and three non pointed Paso Fino classes with 46 horses entered! It's great fun and a great bunch of friendly people!

Pete, My old App Gelding, my Bucephelus. This is that horse of mine, you know you only get one in your lifetime. This was taken last year, he was my daughter's goat throw horse. Thats my lil cowgirl too, and my sis, Tiffany.

Red is only 3 years older than my App. I got him for my daughter a couple Christmas's ago. She outgrew him (not in size he's a monster but my daughter's favorite speed is flying fast). His ankles pop a little every now and then when the herd leaves him behind, and he's always got ribs, but I promise his tail head, backside and chest etc have fat and some muscle still. I don't know how long he has left, but however long it is he'll stay in safe retirement with me.

This stallion has a novel of a story attached to him, but to some it up, someone broke his mind when he was young, and you can't ride him. I adopted him out for retirement, and he went down a tragic road, but I found him again and he will never ever have anything bad happen ever again. Also, he takes REALLY bad pictures, in person he really does look very similar to Hidalgo. He's very gentle, and sweet.

This is my mare, she's more than a pocket pony, you can't beat her off of you. She's every visitor's favorite.

Well, I guess I should have resized them.

At least now you guys might be able to find me at Nationals. I'm oly going to be there Thurs through Saturday at the end. But that'll be plenty of time.

I'll have to make sure and meet everyone. I'm going by myself, I haven't had a break since my child was born.

Let me try to tailer my replies:

Thanks for all the compliments..though I wasn't fishing I swear :blush
My hooved family, the motley crue that it is, I love compliments on them though BIG Thanks!!!!

Let's see..Paintedhorizon.. I'm not really actively looking for mares. I am rotating some mares for a dear friend of mine, refreshing a few that were trained, starting a couple under saddle. My hope is that there will be one come through our dealings that has the gait I want for performance breeding. I watch stallions too, and keep an ever growing library of pedigrees on the horses I have seen that show the gait I enjoy. I love to watch the fino stallions, but I prefer watching performance classes the most, pleasure second. If a mare doesn't rotate through that I think has it all, then in a few years maybe I can buy one. Right now I only have time and talent available, no cash to speak of that doesn't go to animal food or gas...Bush Economics :realmad

True Step Paso, thanks, his name is Majestic Robin, and he has had a very hard life until now. His job is to welcome people in the front paddock.

Pasogirlz, I will not be showing at Nationals, though I sure would like to someday. I will be sponging up any info I can, learning, and this is the first vacation, time alone I will have since my daughter was born. Pretty much. I'll be spending hours just watching horses... :jumpy

Thanks again for the big welcomes everybody, can't wait to jump in and post like crazy.

Welcome! You'll like it here. Everyone is quite friendly . . . as long as you post photos often enough. Fail to follow through on promised photos, though, and this bunch can turn nasty. ';-)'

What kind of bloodlines do you like?

britzlove
08-07-2006, 09:00 PM
PasoVicki..I'll follow thru, promise!

Painted Horizon, I like many bloodlines, for many reasons. For instance, these horses I work with, some have a Contrapunto son as their father or grandfather and I find his temperment, and theirs to be exceptional for pleasure horses. As far as my performance bloodlines, what I do now is I watch for the horses performing they way I like and then I catalog their bloodlines. Too soon for results of commonality yet, but that's the fun part for me. As far as Finos, I think Tormento is the best right now, I like Pedregal too, and the Besilu Profeta Dos? Anyway, you can PM if you want to go on about them, I love nothing better. Or, we'll start a new stream.

Your pictures are great! Your daughter is a cutie. How old is she, and she rides? Is it her that has the "goat throwing" horse? What is goat throwing? My daughter is 14 and loves to ride. I really like your mare. She is very nice.

Thanks Lori for that referral, now I have some faces it's OK to beg for pictures 8-)

Thanks for the welcome Minouri!

Terri, my daughter is eight, that was a picture taken last Christmas. Cassidy rides, she has been riding since pre-birth. My husband bought me a spotted draft horse that only new one speed, slow walk, and that was my "rolly-polly Brittany needs something slow for a few months horse". My mother used to have a pony ride business, so after Cass was born she used to have her pick of 9 very safe ponies. She did JR Rodeo last year, but the horse she used was leased and has been sold. She's in between now, she wants the bay roan mare, Bailey, so I am trying to get some of Bailey's debutante flaws ironed out for her.
Her goat throw horse is my gelding, Pete, the Appaloosa that is my wonder horse. Goat throwing, if you have never experienced it, sounds very mean but it's not. I call it "goat flopping" and Cassidy gets furious with me. You ride your horse to the end of the arena where a goat is staked. You have to jump off, catch the goat (9ft tether) and then throw, "flop" the goat onto it's side. The goats win on a consistent basis. We have a really active JR Rodeo, and I have to tell you it's awe-inspiring to see these children. There are 3rd graders that can out rope adults, especially me (years of lessons just gave up, couldn't rope the dummy, never graduated to real animal). It is for ages K-18 yrs. I have bunches of fun stories. There's a website with photos www.sijra.org

Loved seeing everyones photos in the Nationals thread, I can't wait.
I'm gonna borrow my friends video camera too! I can get lots of still shots.
