Two new Pasos are joining my family soon.
Terry is entrusting her precious little buckskin mare, Mila, to my care -- and Mila will be joined on her trip west by a second buckskin mare, Fiera, who is coming to me from Helene.
Mila made the short trip to Helene's place today, and the two little ladies are spending a few days getting to know each other before being picked up by the transporter on Thursday or Friday. They should be here next Sunday.
Everyone please say a few extra prayers for Mila next weekend. She's a nervous traveller, and I'm a bit worried about how she'll fare on such a long journey.
Give a few extra cyber hugs to Terry, too. I know she didn't really want to part with Mila.

I've always liked the pics I've seen of Fiera!

I have a special place in my heart for Mila...I love her daddy, a beautiful stallion by the name of El Mejor. I saw him many times in person. He was in training with Betsy McHugh along with my stallion, Rojo Tejas. I first saw him at De Los Mejores Ranch in Clovis, CA, when he was with Vicki McQuinn and Johnny Lanier. I can't say that there was much love lost between him and Rojo, however, they HATED each other. ;-)
I followed closely Mila's first days...and I give Terry the most credit for seeing that little girl through those tough times and not giving up on her when many would have.
Vicki, I am so glad that you have consented to give Mila a loving and caring home. I'm sure you will be rewarded 100 times over...we will expect photos of every stage of her life... :D

Awww, poor Terry. But congrats to you on getting the most adorable little Paso mare.

Oh Vicki, bless you for taking Mila. She is a special girl and the sweetheart of the BB. She deserves a very special home with lots of love to spare.
Congratulations on both your acquisitions...and I'll be praying the trailering goes smoothly. They usually do okay with a buddy aboard, and most commercial haulers have video cameras and watch them the whole time. She'll be fine!

How great that this special mare is going to such a special person. Terry should be very proud of all her work w/Mila and finding her this perfect place. 8-)

That's what I'm hoping. Fiera's very special in her own right -- and she's going to make a wonderful riding horse us -- but one of the deciding factors in buying her was to provide Mila with a slightly older and calmer travel buddy. Terry and Helene have been realy great about everything, too. Terry transported Mila to Helene's place for me at no charge, and Helene is taking care of Mila for the week to give the two a chance to bond. But I'm still going to worry until they get here, safe and sound.

Congrats Vicki - it's great that Mila is going to someone who can keep Terry updated, I know how she loves that girl!
Prayers for a safe trip- please send pics when she gets there.

Mila and Fiera are getting used to one another. When I look out of the window I have to look twice to see who is who. They are so matching in color. Mila is a bit darker and more dappled, and prettier. Fiera, of course, is the boss, for now...But knowing what a "pushover" she is, it won't last too long. She loses that superior position real fast once the other horse finds out, that she is "just a HUGE fake" and not really BAD....Mila is very sweet and very beautiful. Her face is gorgeous. I'll see if I can take some pictures of both today and try to post them....

Thanks, Helene, I'd love that. I don't have any still photos of Fiera . . . yet.
Have you heard from Terry since Sunday?

I tried to take some pictures which is ultra-hard when the horses are so "in your face". All I get is noses and eyes, an ear here and there. One horse behind the other, making for a long horse or extra ears on one horse.....I'll try to post some pictures this evening or/and send you some. Fiera is as dappled as Mila, just a tiny bit lighter. Mila has joined my "horse choir" and is greeting me with a very nice whinny when she sees me. She is soooo sweet. You will enjoy her! "Puppy dog personality", following you around wherever you go.
I will see Terry tomorrow morning, going to visit and pick up some stuff from her. She took her friend back to Santa Fe today...She has been pretty busy and hasn't been much on the computer...
