The old trimmer we had did an ok job, they tended to crack/chip pretty quick after and he was almost never in town so I looked around.
Trinket's feet did not need it, but the ASB stud did. I have been dreading this day.
I like this guy alot. I gave him an extra $15 for Merlin acting like a putz. How much do you tip your trimmer? Per horse or time spent or both?
He told us to cut back just a bit on his feed. That as big as he was, he should hit 17 hands at least and his conformation was awesome. Said he would make a great dressage horse. At least that confirms what I thought lol He has that long extended floating trot and made for the ring.
He also does training and if we still have him when we move, I will use him.
He said Merlin did better then a lot of horses he does. His main problem was wanting to bite him in the butt when he had his back towards him doing his front feet. Or trying to bite me in the face. And I have never seen a horse with his back leg up, strike out with a front foot, chest high and straight out, so fast in my life. He missed becauase I was on high alert to him being a putzhead. He did decent otherwise. But it was almost 100 and he was sweating buckets, so was I and I was just trying to hold him. I think next time he does the back feet, I will tie him and see how he does for that.
He does do mustang rolls and pointed out what he was doing to 2 of the feet and how he will correct a flare and well darn I forgot what he said about the other. He said next trim should fix them up, so it's nothing bad or serious.
So, I survived a hoof trim with Merlin, yeah!
