If you are having problems posting and come up as a guest, go up to the top of the board and Register for the Forum. If you are already registered for the forum, just make sure your name reads next to Log Out. (Then you are logged in and won't show as a guest when you post.)

What bloodlines is your horse?

Got any pix of you from the 4-H shows? What class do you compete in there?

I used to show in APF and PFOBA shows, but we are currently enjoying some trail rides and are having a blast showing at local saddle club shows where many people are finding that they just might enjoy a ride on one of those funny walking Pasos... ;)

El Indio - I suspected that was you!

Erin - Tell us more about you teaching kids to ride pasos! I would really like to do an article on how pasos help/heal/teach children with disabilities.

if you go out to my photos on the web ,
I have them here:

http://gallery.pethobbyist.com/index.php?cat=500&subcat=0&page=3&action=&user=77608

you will see pictures of some children in my family, with disabilities, and other kids, just getting together and having fun. ALL family members.
I am not a licensed to give lessons, but I love to just share the joy of a good horse with the kids.
My 2 older ( 5 and 6 yr olds) horses have had a LOT of non riding kids on them, and they are always great.
one of the shots in my pictures is my cousin whom has not been on a horse in over 20 years, and she had a blast.
other shot are my Incendio and his dad ((Terri's horse with the health issues on the BB...)) dressed up as reindeers for a church fundraiser.
REALLY I enjoy sharing my horses with people, and watching the JOY they bring to other people!
it gives me a high!!!!!! If I never got to ride again, that would be fine, as long as someone can have a PASO SMILE ON MY HORSE![/url]

Erin - You have GREAT horses! Such patience. I need a few like that.

I know what you mean about teaching others the joy of our horses. I love teaching a person who has NEVER been near a horse. They are so amazed with themselves when they do it well. But converting someone to the paso is equally as exciting! (But what cracks me up is when someone who has ridden a regular horse only a handful of times thinks they can just jump up on my paso (without a lesson) and go, because....they've ridden horses before.) 8) [/b]

the problem with the poll is that it only allows you to choose one sport...

I show PFHA
Largo Race
Show Open shows
Parade
Competitive Trail Ride
Trail Ride for fun
Do Parelli training
show off (Yep, I admit to being a SHOW OFF of the first order)

I trail ride anywhere with Romeo and show him in the Country Trail Class at the Crumley House Horse Show each month... right now he's teaching little yearlings how to go on the trails. His first experience with ponying was today with Negruzco (Nugget for short). They both did really well!

We do timed events, Hunter Jumper, Open shows, Parades, trail ride, Team Penning, wherever they will stop and look at us we will be there. I really would like to pursue Pasos as the all do horse.

1) Trailriding primarily -- as often as possible -- long/short, easy/difficult, paso only and combined with other horsey style friends (my pasos have learned to flatwalk along with our quarterhorse buddies).

2) I do local gymkhana ... I don't try to compete with all the others horses, but rather just execute the games 'in gait' ... amazingly we often place! I like the more challenging games like can race/flag race/etc where accuracy plays in my favor. Honey is favorite for the folks to watch!

3) Teampenning. My husband's paso, Hierro, is earning quite the reputation these days as an excellent 'cow pony.' They really do have a good time. (We recently got some nice pics..perhaps I'll have to figure out how to post!?)

If it can be done with a pony (small horse) **paso** I do it!!!
Let's see - there will be a pony drawn lawn mower here the first of next month,
These guys help me take care of this big farm.....
I play in the garden with Romeo and Laura,
I jump and climb on and over things with Casanova, has some trick training,
Cas and I do dressage, we use to show, did trail class, western pleasure, versatility, he drives....
Chancero and I do tricks, he lays down to pose as a unicorn, he bows, and I plan on teaching him to sit.... oh, he also drives, rides both paso pleasure and western pleasure, does some trail stuff for showing and goes any where on a "real" trail....
Chaparron and I were big into reining until his eye needed attention... now it is better we plan on playing again... we trail ride.
All the boys above are PR horses. I take them to events when I can and when people come to visit... they ride when I can get the chance....
Let's see now.... mares -
Cancia is babysitting Matthew (whom lost his paso resently)....
When I had cows, I taught one of my mare, Cymbalina, to bring them home when I needed them at the barn... sold her to a lady that team pens....
Taught another in performance show and also to rein.... she is now babysitting grandkids on another farm.....
This is not to mention Santa del Amor, whom I play on.....
just ask those who know me what all I did with our National Fino Mare..... ;-)
Then there is LEGO!!!
Ah heck, the old boy can do it all - between me, the girls, and Lexi - I can't think of a darn thing we have not tried with him....
My FIRST PASO.... he taught me....
He drives, he was taught dressage, then western, then back to "paso fino".
barrel racing - ask Lexi just what place he got.... she does so much better than I do...
Poles - pretty darn good and can do flying changes
Any speed race I can get in - all the "old folks" classes - any gaited pony class.....
Competative trail with Lexi, regular trails with me and the girls
won all sorts of ribbons and plates in Piedmont when the kids were young from pleasure to fino classes.....
He babysits - did hours of it for me - took Sarah away for hours at a time getting her out of my hair!!
He swims, I don't!
Man - could this list go on and on and on.....
