Pocita and I completed 2 25 mile rides at Dawson Forest in north Georgia this w/e. The rides were very tough as usual. Very hot and humid (although less humid than last year as there was no rain within 3 days of the ride, unlike last year when it rained before and on the first day of the ride). And the trail is rocks and gravel with terrain that has some very steep climbs and descents. No way to really train for that around my area although San Felasco State Park has some hills and we trained there a lot in the heat of the day. Pocita did very well the first day, placing 7th out of 12 horses. Saturday she was tired and had some muscle soreness so we took it slower and did a lot more walking. I was very proud of her. She tolerated the heat well, but was just fatigued from all the climbing which she's not used to. She has a lot of heart. No other Pasos were on the ride.
