It was awsome! I went to a Trote and Galope Clinic this past Sunday and got to ride, back-to-back, 5 Trote and Galope horses!!!! Two were stallions and 3 were mares. And I got to see a young colt being trained! I was in the company of, what I think, are some of the best (non-professional) Trote and Galope riders in this country. I was thrilled to be a part of it.

Oh man, I am SO jealous. Where did this take place? And I wasn't invited?

And you know the rules....where are the pix? ;-)

The Clinic was "invitation only" and, believe me, I am not sure why I was included other than my husband owns one of the T/G's that was used in the Clinic. I don't have nearly the experience on Trote and Galopes that the others had. There was 8 of us total. 2 of the riders were on the Youth Equitation Mundial Team! And another rider showed in the Mundial when it was in Miami!

I learned so much riding the horses in such quick succession and I really learned a lot watching the other riders. It's neat to see what each rider is able to get out of the horse. We got to judge each other, like a FunShow, and then the "winners" were announced at the end.

I feel lucky to live in FL. I don't know where else in the US it would be possible to ride so many different Trote and Galopes. The Clinic was held in Ocala, FL at The Ocala School of Equestrian Art.

We took some videos, but no pictures. Maybe some of the other participants will post some if they read this.

Yes, I did feel lucky. I'm working on getting some pic's to post. We all had alot of fun and there was definitely some "Showboating" going on by some. Do judges take off points for riding with the reins in your teeth???? I think the reason this clinic was invitation-only is because it was the first T/G clinic for the school. I'm pretty sure they will have more in the future.

I had never shown a horse before, not even in a Fun Show, so it was a new experience for me. I was nervous thinking about it, but once I got on and got started, I didn't even really think about being judged and being watched. And everyone else made it fun and low stress so that helped too. Maybe someday I'll get up the nerve to show in a real show!

You must keep us posted on the next clinic. I really want to attend one. 8-)
Maybe they will have a clinic on fighting the show jitters too. If they can cure me....they can cure anyone.

TrueStepPaso:

I'm so glad you loved the pics of emperador! He is a very special horse! And, yes, he is a stallion. He has a heart of gold. He was riden in the Youth Equitation Mundial this past July in Kissimmee, FL by an 11 yr old girl. They do awsome together.

My husband and I are the owners, but he is kept in Ocala, FL at Ocala's School of Equestrian Art at Criadero Aristocratica Farm.
www.ocalapasofino.com
Diego Bravo is the School Director and Manager. He's been working with Emperador and he's used in the School with some of the students. Emperador is available for breeding to approved mares and Diego is the person to talk to about handling it. Because we have had requests to breed Emperador, we just recently decided to form an LLC for the Breeding activities. It's called Criadero Hidalgo, LLC

Do you have Trote and Galope horses? We own both Paso Finos and Emperador, a Trote and Galope. We love all the paso horse gaits! They are so much fun.

Hope this answers your questions.

pasosx3 - Was Emperedor used for exhibition at the Fl Equestrian Celebration this past year? If so I believe his picture was used in a Showtime article about him. Did you get a copy?

Hey Lori,

Yes, Emperador was exhibited at last November's Jacksonville Equestrian Celebration. Diego rode him. And, no, I don't think I saw the article. I would love to see it!!! How do I get it?

Becky...

Thank you so much for the information! Wow..I didn't realize you are the owner of that gorgeous stallion!
Unfortunately, I don't own a TyG horse....I have a Paso Fino gelding whom I adore though. I'm really starting to take an intense interest in these TyG horses...I'm quite surprised that they haven't appealed more to the American public!
Did you import him, or purchase him in the US?

Gosh, he is certainly "somethin' else"....maybe someday I'll hit the lottery & purchse an equally beautiful & talented mare to breed him to....

Abbie-- We purchased him in the US, in Florida. And it was purely a matter of being in exactly the right place at the exact right time and taking a leap of faith in a very green horse and following your heart into the unknown!

One of the things I like about these Trote and Galope horses is that they have the same kind of heart and spirit and dedication that the Paso Finos have. They just move a little differently is all.

How interesting to have seen your comments about Diego's school. My family lives in southern FL and has traveled to Ocala to take lessons from Diego.

During our first visit, we saw a couple taking a lesson on Emperador and we were completely breathtaken. I had heard of Trote y Galope, but never saw a single video much less to experience it in person. My husband and I both looked at each other and said, "we have to have one someday"!

During our most recent visit, the kids got to ride Salome and and my husband and I rode Aliada. What a blast! We have two pasos at home and my girls were riding yesterday and both said at different times "I sure wish we had a Trote Galope!"

Seems everyone is in agreement and we will be in the market!

Hi Lizzy,

Emperador is doing really well! He's settling in to his new home. We know how much you love him and miss him. (For those of you on the BB who might not know--Lizzy rode Emperador at the 2006 Youth Mundial and at other Exhibitions around Florida). You did so awesome together at the 2006 Youth Mundial!

Here are some pictures we took yesterday.

We think the Trote and Galope's are alot of fun, too! We're lucky to have Diego's school here in Florida. I really enjoyed my rides on Salome. Any luck finding one of your own????
