I haven't read the books, but I would like to.
The movies are very cute.

WHEN is HBP coming out? Soon?
I heard that some readers in Canada were able to accidentally purchase the books and a judge ordered a gag on them, made them return the books (they will get their books back, signed by the author!) and they cannot discuss what they were able to read of the story until the day the sale of the books officially opens.
What day will that be? Then only one more book left. :(

Friday at Midnight. It's like a sabbat for nerd-dom. It's in the bible- you have to dress up, get a wand, assume a character, the whole nine yards- and get there at six pm for the book release at ... midnight. This particularly sucks because this time around, there's a conflict of scheduling. I'll have to cut one or the other short. I don't want to show up for one event dressed like Prof. Sprout (yes, I have the dress and the vines), or show up at the other in a smooth skirt, 3-inch heels, and leotard top (don't ask).
I've scoured the net for spoilers, and can't find any. Perhaps my searching skills have fallen by the wayside.

Thanks Crystal..I relinquished "trend watch" duties to my daughter a while back. I can't keep up with anything anymore. Finally! Back under the rock I crawled out from.

Another one??? MAN! You're getting up there Ed!
I have been advised by Barns & Noble to be at the store around 6:00pm tomorrow so I can wait in line for the big release party that starts at 9. The place is usually packed. I haven't decided which character to go as but it was suggested to me that I go as Draco Malfoy since I have the blonde hair, light eyes, pointy nose, and mean as a snake.
I have had this book on reserve since the announcement of the release. (I get at 40% discount) As far as the half blood prince, I don't know....I don't think it is Hagrid, it might not be any of the main characters. In KL Rowlings preview of the book she does say that another main character will die, Lupin, Tonks and Draco’s mom will play a bigger role. I do hope however that they bring back Sirius Black.
Also remember from Order of the Phoenix Sirius said "None of the pure blood families are of "pure" blood, they just scratched off the squibs and muggles ". Hummm...
The mirror Siriius gives Harry in the last book also plays reavence to books 6 and 7.

The Mary GranPre cover art on both the US hardbound AND the US Deluxe hardbound are very thought provoking. Everything on both is "green", much like OotP was "blue". On one, Harry and Dumbledore are gazing into a stone basin that looks more like a birdbath than a pensieve, and on the other, they're creeping through the forest, following an old man with hat and cane I assume to be Moody. A knife is sticking out of the tree just above Dumbledore's head, AND the house, more a hovel, has "eyes" in the roof.

Good greif, Kerry W. You talk about crawling back under your rock...I think I am going to have to crawl back under my Mountain.... I have NO idea what all this book stuff is about!!!!! What book are we talking about? I live in the woods guys. I don't watch TV, all I do is work and sleep and keep an eye on the weather channel for hurricanes.

 Mom, You've seen the Harry Potter movies...well they are based on books, and a new one is being released this week. It's a big deal here in Miami too. The radio station was giving away copies on the air this morning. They are supposed to be a great read...you'd probably enjoy them.

Oh, Harry Potter, Well, now I think I understand. I think I have seen at least one of those movies. Yes, I probably would enjoy it.
Thanks for clarifying. I guess I just don't know who any of the charactres are. (short memory) ;-)
