Well folks, we all need to keep an eye on this one:

Am praying for safety for all those in the path. This looks to be a strong category 3 storm when landfall is made late in the week. They aren't sure, could be anywhere from western Panhandle of Florida to Texas, so keep watch on it.

Tighten up Linda! This one may be one of ours!
Thanks Deb and Leila for keeping us updated on this. If anyone has assistance/needs assistance, let's cover our bases as much as possible before the storm gets too close to one of us.
Please add your info to the planning ahead thread and maybe we should make a contact list as well. Lori, anyway of getting a sticky where those in the path can post their contact info so we know where to find them and check up on them?

Beau Rivage in Biloxi re-opens on Tuesday, right about when it should hit them. Talk about bad luck.

Nope, it's going to Texas to give rain to Carol! Yep, Texas.
I am as ready as I can be. It it hits here as a 3, I WILL be looking for land in Tennessee! :(

Well peoples from the weather this morning and last night it looks more like it is going make a turn and visit Pam, Bob or myself. I have been watching that pressure system from the west coming across the US and now they are saying it is going to turn Ernesto towards us. Ah well such as life. This is not a good time. With Ellis down since Friday, unable to move his hands and arms I have a lot to do and I feel like crap myself. Just goes to show what loss of sleep will do for you. Even though for the last week, though i wake up during the night and work i am falling asleep almost as soon as the kids leave. i worked around here look several naps yesterday. had a function last night. and actually went to bed after talking to my daughter around midnite.
Not a Good Time at all. The Worst.

I figure, that I'd better start getting things in today as my husband doesn't get around very well either now. I've been stuck doing it alone before, so even with lawn furniture, I started buying things easier to handle myself. I've also had to evacuate a sick loved one, so I was on the road in some nasty weather just before it was necessary to get off them. I wanted my husband to make functional shutters for the house as he did for the barn to make that easier. Unfortunately, it isn't done yet, and it appears, that it easily could come this way. I'll have him try to board up some windows on rooms, that have more than one; then we won't have too many to do later.

ARGH - the 11 a.m. path shows it making landfall right at Tampa Bay...
http://gallery.pethobbyist.com/data/44504180213W_sm.gif
The good thing - it's still 4-5 days from landfall and lots can change before then. I'm about 50 miles from the Gulf, 28 miles from Tampa Bay, so we are in a safe zone. Usually high and dry, last time what got us was the wind and power loss. Dad has to have AC with his CHF.
This year, I do have a generator, and went and filled up all the vehicles and gas cans today.
Good luck to all.

I'm sure ya'll can see, that we need to be more concerned with Lori now as it looks like Miami will get some of it, and the worst missing those of us, who posted.

As long as it stays on the projected path, we'll be ok here in Plant City. Boy, this is making TN look better and better!!!!
Lori and anyone on the southeast coast, as well as where it comes out by Jax needs to be ready....I assume Lori will go to PasoMom's? You know you are more than welcome to come here too if you need a place. I can't house many horses (just pasture - my 3 stalls are full), but we could always leave Jochi out with other boys.

If it keeps shifting like this, it will miss the US completely! Yay! :D

Now looks like it will come in south of Miami and come up the state. Our area, Port St. Lucie, is in the path once again. Sure is getting old.

You guys stay safe!! And keep us informed!
It'll probably come on up and just wash us away. We're growing algae on our skin anyway from all the rain.

First, anyone reading this is welcome to come to our place if you evacuate. We have places for people and horses both.
Here's a very good evac site to check out, in case it applies to you: http://sshc.org/evac/ Even has out of state places listed. PLUG PLUG please consider adding your place, if you can handle a few folks in an emergency. The Sunshine State Horse Council has done a great service by creating this; let's make it better by adding our own farms to the list.
Don't forget to put ID on your horses. If not those Horse ID Bands that you got from me, spray paint your phone number on each side or rump.
Take photos of your horses from each side - showing all markings.
If you wish, leave a halter on the horse with your info in a baggie duct taped to the halter. I prefer leaving a leather halter on, as it will breakaway in an emergency. DO NOT PUT COGGINS COPY IN THE BAGGIE - anyone can get out of state with that ... no health certificate needed in State of Emergency.
That's my two cents. Stay safe.

If you want to see what's going on in south florida check this link it has sky cams that change every 5 minutes. You can also select other areas of the state.
