I was gonna do an overnight in some nice lodge during the fall leaf viewing season. Of course I procrastinate and everything nice is booked....still looking tho. He likes golf....maybe a gift cert. to some real nice course??

BTW...his Bday is actually in DEC., but around here there is noot much to do that time of year. We like snowmobiling but snow is sparse then and hunting season doesn't end til Dec 10th

What would a guy appreciate????

If my birthday was in December, I would want to take a vacation in the wormer region. Maybe you both can take a small vacation to some exotic island or tack a run down to Florida for a week or two. Just my thought.

My hubby's 50th is coming up in 1.5 weeks and I am planning a group dinner at a local restaurant for friends/family.

I've made arrangements with the restaurant, which has a kid-friendly menu AND great meals for adults, including beer/wine. I will buy first drinks for everyone and pay for the group meal-gratuity and the restaurant can do seperate checks for everyone's meals. Restaurant says I can bring a cake and they will put it in their fridge and I can put small decorations on the tables, which will be placed all together so we (about 20-30) can sit as a group.

I have also looked online and found a place that will come out in the middle of the night and put decorations on the lawn to announce to everyone driving by what the occasion is. :D

Kenny's sis and I were looking through photo albums last night to find pics of him to have screened on a cake...we found a HS Senior Prom photo from the 70s where he has shoulder length hair that we can crop the girl out of, or a chubby baby pic of him sitting up and grinning or I can use a recent one I took of him with his Jeep.

Will be going Friday to order the cake and pick up 50th/Grim Reaper decorations. I'm having a blast with this! We are helping out his sis and her hubby, so we don't have money to 'go' anywhere...but this, I can do.

my recommendation is a nice little bed and breakfast somewhere scenic, lakeside, beachside, or mountains. just the two of you for a couple of nights. oh, and bring something new from victoria's. ;-)

Lisa:

Yep - caught her first thing this morning before work. She came right up and stuck her nose in the halter. I could not believe it because I had been told that was her "hole". She is wicked fat - I wish she DID lose weight on the trip up. Man does she need riding. Hmmmm, I wonder if she rides? LOL

We've got a place in RI that is called Cuddles and Bubbles. Hot tub in every room. Don't know if men like that stuff as much as women do, though.

My husband and I jointly gave each other a trip to Mexico for our birthdays last year - it was a blast! It's my favorite country (other than the US!) and we stayed in a little village where I could ride on the beach, he could surf and we could both snorkel. And because we went in early November, just before the season started, prices weren't bad. In fact, we spent the same or less as a long weekend at a stateside resort would have cost.

My 40th was just recently and he gave me two gifts - I had a friend fly in to visit for the weekend and he cooked for us and then left us alone. He also fixed my botched bathroom remodel. Both actions made for a very nice gift, especially since he works over 100 hours/week this time of year and time is something he really doesn't have much of.

For his 40th, this fall, he's getting a guided hunting trip that he's always wanted.

For us, it's never about just a gift but about doing something the other will enjoy. Sometimes it's expensive, sometimes it's not!

Thanks all. My problem is I procrastinated/had no time and the good places are booked. Remember it snows up here so alot shuts down. I'm still looking for a place to book (that we would enjoy). jmtw...like your avatar and what kind of toys??....or can't it be posted on this forum. LOL.

I was gonna book a lodge at Letchworth Park, send him golfing, and go by myself on the park trails on a TWH....which they rent out. LOL.

Beth.....if she's rideable I could meet ya someplace since no trailer yet.

Disney??? Nah, we'll wait til the girls are older. We haven't had our honeymoon yet, either!!!! But I am saving for an Alaskan cruise....if I can stop buying horses, trailers etc......

It's Joey, please.
The horse in the avatar is pasosfantasy's Siempe Fuerte (If I spelt that right).

Toys: Guns, gun accesories, (I presume he's into horses) horse stuff like saddlebags gun sheath, etc, electronics, gps, things like that.

Stuff for his truck (he's a guy, he almost has to have a truck lol ).

Something I've always wanted was a nice framed painting of me and my horse.

He likes horses, but doesn't ride. So Beth....can't think he would like me getting him a trailer or pony. HaHa

Heidi....I like your idea too!

Thanks for all the ideas.....

Yes, Rhode Island !!!

Where the who's who spent time on their Bay front mansions known as the "Summer Cottages" in Newport.

Years ago, I stayed in a hotel (sorry, I can't remember the name) with a wonderful view of the Harbor.
It was formerly a beer brewery and beautifully converted to a three star hotel.

Newport is a must see, if traveling in the New England region.

A trip to Vieques PR. Very inexpensive IF book now..., go online. Horses (Paso Finos) run wild and have right of way. One stop sign. Maybe end up on a beach by yourselves. Very relaxing for everyone. Have FUN with whatever you end up doing. :)

Hubby's parents sent the two of us to Disneyworld for our 25th anniversary - he couldn't figure out why we had a rental car
But ,while we were down there he had his b-day - told him we were taking a ride - took him up to see Daytona Speedway - he was thrilled! ( He use to race late model stock cars) . This past June our daughter and I sent the guys to Michigan to see a NASCAR race - they had never been to one.
Oh - trick to Disney for people without kids - save the neat rides with long lines for after 3pm when the locals take all the rug rats home ;-)
I want to go back and see the Animal Kingdom - :D

My husband would hate a romantic anything. It's his birthday, do something he'd enjoy - deep sea fishing, scuba diving, camping or hiking, a professional football game - whatever he is into. THEN do a romantic evening and the Victoria Secret outfit for sure. As Coreen would say, get your toes curled. LOL
