My name is Delia Herr and I have a 19 year old son that is a United States Marine. I belong to a group that is called, Military Moms. As our children are getting ready to deploy, and some that are getting ready to come home, we have noticed a steady decline in support, ie...yellow ribbons decorating offices and homes, American Flags waving proudly and beind displayed on vehicles. As the anniversary of 9/11 approaches and our chidren are about to, or have been, fighting for our freedoms, we are trying to organize an event and are asking for everyones help in getting the word out.

On September 11, 2006 at exactly 6 pm Pacific Time, 7 pm Mountain Time, 8 pm Central, and 9 pm Eastern, we are asking Americans to step out on their front porch and light a candle, for the victims of 9/11 and for the heros that continue to fight the war on terrorism, giving their lives to ensure our freedoms. Please help us show them what their sacrifices mean to us. My son deploys soon and this is the hardest thing for me to have to experience, but I do it, because I am proud that he has chosen to serve his country, and I would like to do something to show him, and the tens of thousands of others, that they are not alone. All I am asking is for your help in spreading the word. Please let me know, if you will be able to assist me in any way.

This is taking off nationwide... please consider participating if you can. There will be candles at our home for our son and his military buddies...

I'm in. Our soldiers have always had my support. http://bestsmileys.com/usa1/23.gif

I was surprised (and pleased) to drive down one of the major thoroughfares in Edmonton and see every tree in the median and every tree on both boulevards wrapped in yellow ribbons. I'm also seeing more and more vehicles sporting a yellow ribbon of the magnetic variety.

Though many Americans think we rely on American protection, our Canadian military men and women are fighting right beside you in Afghanistan.

Lovers of freedom know no specific nationality, race or religion but must join together to fight those who are trying to destroy that which we hold most dear. May all those on the forefront of this fight stay safe and come home victorious.
