I was checking on some stories for my paper and while talking to Georgia state ag department they told me about this auction. Here is a link if anyone is interested. They do have some photos listed by links on this page.

I guess they hold these auctions on a regular basis.
Hope this helps

These are the horses that the state seizes due to neglect. They usually have some horses up for auction each week. Sometimes there are some very nice horses that go through, just don't count on getting a bargain. Some of the better horses go for good money.

Thanks for the info Mel. I wasn't aware the state of Georgia did this.

You should try to check it out every week if you can. It is interesting to see what moves through. There were some nice mules that were auctioned off last month.

Actually, the one they had a month or two ago had a paso fino mare in the auction and she went for really cheap. Of course they "lost" the papers and any info. on her. But, the people who bought her are friends of mine and they are very happy with her...Small wonders.

Couldn't they do the DNA thing too?

I'll try to do that...Wish me luck on the posting thing though...Not to literate in that department! She was an obvious neglect case...They stated her age at the auction between 18-20 years. When the vet took a look at her he estimated her at 12-15. She is filling out nicely. She is a flea bitten grey and will be a pretty girl once they get her health squared away.
