well it is just off the southern coast of NC below Wilmington. Expected to make landfall around 11 pm. Pasowave and her family live on the NC coast. Its heading north thru central NC and expected to pass just east of Raleigh with very heavy rains and some straight way winds. So south and eastern NC may have a rough night ahead. The weather folks say it could pick up more steam and become of hurricane strength overnight. I do hate when these storms hit over night. We're expecting area flooding..its been raining all day but not too heavy yet. Heavy is expected tonight with eye due here around 10 am...........right when I am due on the other side of town for an appt.
Send good thoughts here as I have 2 layers of temporary roofing material  on half my house's roof, and I have an over 100 year old oak tree right next to house too. Hurricane Fran hit in the middle of the night back a few years ago...that was rather scary, and did alot of tree damage.....and power outage. blameitonbrio is on the north side of Raleigh. So keep us eastern North Carolinians in your thoughts tonight and our horses too!
Update: 27 NC counties are under advisory warnings. Here's our local news link on hurricane news...

appy..its heading your way for the wekend..you're bound to get rain. Well my town I live in is called New Hill. We don't get alot of flooding. I'm on a hill rather too...but the drive way gets washed on the two sloping areas, and around the barn area. I put out pinestraw in the ground areas near the barn where it washed last night from the heavy rains. All 18 horses have dry areas, but some are roomy walk-in sheds...so they have to stay underneath them to stay dry. All Mamas and babies are in the main barn, plus Emperador, Ladybug and Insignia. Got a full barn.
I'm off for the night...........now. later

Have fingers and toes crossed all only get rain, and not TOO much of it. I watched the weather tonight and it certainly looks scary.
My thoughts will be with you all tonight!

We have our horses all tucked into the barn for the night. They are usually only stalled for feeding time. But since we have wooded paddocks, I hate the thought of them being out if the winds get high and limbs fall. :shocked
This isn't suposed to be a Fran (I hope they are right!), but with all these trees on our land, high winds make me nervous. Fran went right over us 10 years ago. My sister from the NC coast came here with her family and animals to escape the hurricane, and the $%^&* storm came here! That night, we had to make sure that everyone was sleeping in a room with someone they wouldn't bite and/or eat. That wasn't an issue for us humans for the most part, but for our dogs, cats and rabbits! I remember lying awake listening to the storm thinking we were on the oustskirts of it. When it got dead quiet for 10-15 minutes and then started up again, I realized the eye had passed over us. It was horrifying and neat at the same time.
This storm shouldn't have very high winds, just gusts up to 40 mph -- just enough to be a pain!
Have a good night Lynn! and Kerry! and everyone else in the path of Ernesto.

well...ernesto went abit farther east then predicted. I think it rained more and harder the night before last....but I did have more limb debree down from last night so more wind along with rain. One dead tree fell across the driveway. I rammed it with the truck...it cracked, and I moved enough of it out of the way to get out this morning, and the rest returning home this afternoon. Otherwise it was pretty mild. Power went out again for awhile, same as night before, but on by time to get up in the morning.
trees fall when the ground is already soaked...has been raining since Wednesday morn. Electric tape fences don't fair well in these storms either. I'll need to make the rounds and check and put back up.
oh well... bye bye ernesto... the northeast can expect rain on their holiday weekend. we've had enough rain now. ;-)

Still looking for reports from NC and up to the NE states. Is everyone okay, anyone need help, supplies, etc?

Ernesto spared the Raleigh, NC area for the most part -- just some wind gusts and rain. Most of the rain was east of here. We did have trees down here and there, but it was not a bad storm here at all.
