In the midst of all the PIA stuff going on here, miracles happen.
I did Bri's hoves tonight, and normally its an ordeal. He has had balance issues, has had trouble even keeping his front hooves on the stand without shaking - his leg just didn't want to do that. His rear hooves have been touch and go, literally, and just getting them up to the hoof cradle in the lowest position was scarey for him. If I didn't get it all done in one fell swoop I'd be begging him not to be terrified.
Tonight was EASY. Huge range of motion, only a hair of shaking with his left front up on the stand, NO balance problems, his rears have more extension rearward than they ever have, and I didn't need the cradle. No fear, no fussin, no begging, no nuthin. I'm drunk with glee!!!
Now I had turned him out a few times last week, I finally got brave enough as I thought he was looking better. He acted like a 2 year old, and I watched him for any set backs, but he was fine. He definately overdid it the first time - he'd taken a big silly pill as he went through the gate - and was a hair stiff the next day but it was obviously just from being a nut. He even pulled out his big ol perfy largo (legs flyin everywhere, lol) and MADE me catch him last week. He's deconditioned as heck, but LOOK OUT, cuz we are on a roll!!!
Now i don't want to hear anyone saying a thing about basing all this joy on one good night of hoof trimmin and a few turnouts that didn't go bad. I know this horse. He's healing. And for all of you that think I shouldn't say this, to bad, I think its appropriate:
PRAISE GOD !!!!! PRAISE HIM HALLELUJIAH !!!!!!
:notworthy :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy
Look for us in Dillsburg in May. Who knows we might even hit up a Christmas parade, and the NY PR parade next year, oh, we'll BE THERE.
