Its an immuno-nutritional aid for the management of chronic inflammatory conditions such as arthritis made from the milk of hyper-immunized cows. It can be given to pregnant mares...which is why I'm interested in it. Anyone ever used it??? I believe you need a vets prescription.

Never even heard of it...but my first question would be....WHY would it work? What is the story on the product? Is it a Bute substitute of sorts?

No, it is more on the way of Cosequin or other joint inflammation supplements.
Supposedly it is made of Microlactin taken from the milk of hyper-immunized cows (how they get them that way, I have no idea) that inhibits neutrophil participation in the inflammatory response. It can be given to pregnant mares...should I breed my old mare, Danzarina, I wanted to find a joint supplement that she can be on throughout her pregnancy. So many of them, they can't be.
Think I'll call my vet...if you're interested, I'll post what she says.

Go ahead and post about it. I'm always interested in new products.... run it by Candice...she is the resident "horse pharmacist"...she will know if the claims make sense or don't!

Here's the website:

http://www.duralactin.com/index.htm

Talked to my vet's technician and she said that although they don't know a whole lot about it yet, they do carry it and have sold it to several clients. In fact they were sold out...they are ordering more for me. They carry it at about $55 for 850 grams...a dollar cheaper than ValleyVet.com.

She said the clients that do use it are impressed with it.
