Okay, I'm still trying to figure out what Trote, Trote Galope, Trocha Galope and Pura Trocha are.
Trote = trot ??
Galope = canter?
Please help! LOL
maybe some videos to understand the difference???
trote and galope = trot and gallop. I dont know if canter is the right word. when i have seen horses canter in PFHA shows is less elegant and collected as the trot and trocha horses.. maybe i amwrong but thats my opinion...check the tro and gallop video and see the gallop....
trocha pura = pure trocha

Okay, from what I can see, trote is like a collected, animated trot and galope is a collected, animated gallop.
What is trocha? Is it like a combination of trot and corto?
ok, trot and trocha are diagonal gaits as you know.
the trocha video that you saw is a horse out of this world, outstanding  she is awsome.
so the trote y galope is also collected , high hands and the sound is TAS,TAS,TAS, TAS, kind of slow comaparing to trocha... and the sound in trocha i guess you know it since finos rest in trocha a lot.. is TRAS,TRAS, TRAS, TRAS.... faster. trocha used to be horses with more high hands than the video you saw, but since it is getting better and better the bloodlines with the years it is getting more collected and low handed.
Each Breed, modality or whatever you want to call it have great producers, stallions, breeders...etc.....I know the trochadores look like finos sometimes but people need to understamd that TROCHA is a breed not coming from the fino,,, it is something different, in colombia they dont mix to breed trcha with fino, or the opposite...
The common quality that this horses have is the power and strenght that they have in their step and in their back legs...
They are the best horses to ride.. I love paso finos but the power and smooth that you feel in this horses is great, you can go til the end of the world in a trochador/ troton...

Trocha has the same footfall sequence as the Paso Fino, the timing is different on the diagonal pairs...so it's not necessarily a diagonal gait.

With all my respect, but how are you going to say that trocha has the same footfall as the FINOS????

uh..AJ..trocha is not a diagonal gait for a Paso Fino..it is an out-of-timing SAME footfall as gait...just out of timing..with a longer pause between step two & three as Kerry has posted on the drawing. If it were IN TIME...it would be a perceptively equal timing between all four steps.
Have you ever seen the Whats My gait Video?
It seems as if you are talking about an ATTA trocha registered horse, and not a Paso Fino who can trocha...
Trote or trot is a diagonal gait....

PURE TROCHA IS DIAGONAL>>>> TROT IS DIAGONAL

The horse Kerry posted (the drawing) is a Paso Fino who is in "trocha"...
Not an ATTA horse....
Yep, I know it gets confusing! I understand your view of Trocha as it pertains to an ATTA trochador horse, and I understand Kerry's drwaing as I have a Paso Fino who can do trocha gait as it applies to a Paso Fino.

Then I apologize I got confused. Since we are in the Pure Trocha forum, and the main question was about pure trocha, trot and gallop ....
Then I do no thave anything to say!

The same footfall SEQUENCE...meaning, RR,RF,LR,LF,RR,RF,LR,LF. If it were diagonal, as the trote, the diagonals would strike at the same moment, (RRLF),(LRRF). If this is incorrect, then please correct me. I got these graphics from the website of a Sr. Montealegre, who I believe resides on Bogota, and has done extensive research on the modalities, else I'd not have posted the information. I personally found them to be beneficial in understanding the movements of ALL modalities, and thought the graphic might help someone new understand. ;-) If they are erroneous, let me know...I'll contact him and make him aware of the situation. ;-)

Please feel free to add or correct.
trocha is uneven spaced 4 beat DIAGONAL gait and from the videos it's extremely diagonal with only a very small time difference between the footfalls of the two diagonal feet. This is quite different from the slight diagonal footfall you get from a young or tired paso fino or one who tends to the diagonal. This diagonal "resting gait" of the paso fino is slightly uneven. The trocha is VERY uneven. The sound tras tras tras shows that the two feet hit close enough together to make one long sound rather than two sounds.
.
That's Trocha. DIAGONAL. Perfect explanation

paso fino
tac a tac a tac a - even
"resting gait" lateral or diagonal
tac a short pause tac a short pause tac a short pause tac a short pause between two obviously separate footfalls
trocha
tr..as pause tr..as pause tr..as pause tr..as with low and quick hands You can barely discern two separate footfalls as they are very close together
trote
step pause step pause step pause step
both diagonals hit at exactly the same time. Why then is it so smooth compared to a normal trot? Because the horse doesn't loft itself into the air between the time the first two diagonals hit and the time the second two hit so it's like a 4 feet, two feet, four feet, two feet. So there is always support.
The trote horses are really cool looking. The trocha horses just look a lot like really uneven fino horses to us since they move the feet fast, low and have slow forward motion too.
