View Full Version : Need a good demo ride

My friend is thinking about buying a TB who keeps tossing her off. She likes the speed and thinks she can calm the horse down. She's leasing her and taking lessons on her.
I've told her to shop around for other horses but she's relatively a novice and the horses she comes across seem to send her back to the horse she is leasing. Either too dead calm or not at all flashy.
Her husband is a business man and I think she could afford a nice flashy Paso. Then she could get the speed and the versatility of a good horse and some flash. She has ridden Scooter, but he's not a WOW you Paso. I want her to be wowed into buying one
Does anyone have a Paso in the Rhode Island/MA area that is either for sale or representative of a really smooth Paso and is willing to give a demo ride? It would probably be in about a month. Or earlier if you have an indoor where we could visit after school. Right now she is a ring rider. I bet she would love a show quality Paso.

I am sure Terri and I could get a few together for her to try all at one place, and she could feel a few different ones.
we dont have an indoor.
you could always take her to Bobby's and I am sure he would be happy ypo put her on some of the show trained ones.
ALSO, why dont you try to get her to go to the open house this weekend, she can seee and I am sure try a bunch!
its a nice time!

Paso Fino Del Fuego in Middleboro is having its annual open house this weekend. Clinics in the morning with your horse. You should bring Scooter, I am bringing Rio. Mico might even make an appearance. Sunday afternoon there is a "fun show". Monday morning trail ride.
So yes, bring your friend, tell Bobby she may be shopping, he'll put her on some nice horses for sale.
I think Laura S will be there, anyone else coming??

I'll have to see if I can go! I hope Scooter is ok by then  But I know I'd like to see what's there.

You should call Bobby, or email him and tell him you are coming and maybe bringing a horse, just so he knows. It is all free advice and he puts on a nice lunch.

It is THIS coming weekend, but I am sure you can arrange to bring her up anytime, especially if he thinks she is shopping.

Abbie,
Not sure how I feel about this weekend after today. Scooter couldn't be ridden today because we dialated both of his eyes. Hopefully it won't rain tomorrow and I can work him a bit then try a ride. He's been in a stall mostly for about a week now healing his eye. He might be a bit fruity. If I can't bring him maybe I can come anyway and see you.
What goes on at an open house there? When are YOU going?

Well....I missed last years, but from what I hear its just a learning experience through other ppl if your not bringing your own horse...plus its a social opportunity! :D I'm going to all three days, so you can count on ME being there...Erin is also going on Saturday, and so is Terri (I think she's going to all three as well). Erin & I are only auditing...the only thing I'm trucking Poco over for is the trail ride.
Sat...helping ppl improve their Pasos (way of going, gait, tack, etc).
Sun...a "fun show".
Mon....a trail ride.
That's the short version. ;-)

I think I HAVE to go ;-) I'll have to figure out when, though. I'll check what we've got going on and get back to you.

Ok, I sent an email to Bobby. He sent me the schedule. So if anyone else needs it just tell me.
I think I'm going to go early Saturday and watch. Is anyone going to be there for the breakfast they are having? It's at 8:30. I know that's early. I think it's an hour drive for me.
I asked if there was more room in the clinic. I'm not sure what Scooter would be like after spending so much time in his stall due to his eye....but the vet says his eye is ready for travel now if I wanted to go. Bobby didn't answer me yet. My guess is that it's full. But you never know. Plus, I explained to him that I'm just a trail rider. He might be looking for riders with some experience to work with. But we'll see.
I also sent him pictures of Scooter  Now he definately thinks I'm a little crazed. But I figured he's a Paso person. If he doesn't get to meet Scooter at least he can appreciate the versatility of the breed. I sent the running pic, the swimming pics, one gaiting pic, and a sleeping pic...lol I'm a little fruity. Does anyone else have problems talking about their horses without whipping out photos?
This will be great! I get to see Paso friends AND learn new stuff. I don't really care if Scooter comes. I'm so excited to go anyway.
Erin, Terri, Abbie.....it will be so nice to see you all again.
Laura.....I look forward to meeting you!
Terri

He answered your email! Wow you are special.
I don't know if I will make the breakfast, depends how lond it takes to get Rio on the trialer. Some days he walks right on, others he suddenly sees a cougar in the front.
I would just bring Scooter, I wouldn't worry about the clinic being full. You will find that things can be, um, kinda flexible there.
I am looking forward to see you and scooter again.

ErinC

Laura S
10-05-2006, 04:15 PM
I am so glad so many are going to the clinic!! So I will get to meet Terri, Abbie, Ruth and maybe Sue. And I'll see Erin again. Anybody else I'm missing?
That will be fun to see and compare Mi Sueno babies!
Mirage isn't a "show" horse either, but I plan to go and the thing I want help with is how to teach her to work off her hind end better. Maybe someday I will show her, but I want her to work in a little bit better frame for now.
I will see you all there! I'm getting excited as we are leaving around 10 tomorrow morning. After work today, I have tons of packing to do!!
Minouri

Just got an email from Bobby saying I could bring Scooter. Yippee! I'm not sneaking in the back!
He told me to bring feed, shavings and hay. Do we leave them there over night? I don't mind bringing Scooter back here and then back tomorrow. Infact I'd prefer it. But I would like to put him in a stall when I'm not using him.
ErinC
10-06-2006, 12:43 AM
bring him stall him while you are there, then bring him home.
they dont care.
just clean your own stall
Minouri
10-06-2006, 12:52 AM
Great! Any chance I can bring my Appy and stall him? Scooter travels better with his buddy. Then I'd use the stall for the Appy. Can I just say he's a tall Paso?
Terri

Minouri
