Lisa - how many people are coming for sure??? I am also not coming if it was like last weekend. Too much rain and 20 degrees when I woke up Saturday morning - thank the gods for LQ with furnace! Anyway, the Pine Bush has shrunk a LOT and it looks to be about 2 hours riding tops. By then my horses are just getting warmed up! We shall see next week.

Deb - I will admit that I am doing a lot of 3.5, and 4.5 hour rides now. And do stop for lunch and such. However, there are times when I still do the 6 and 7 hour riding - sometimes it is just too nice to come back!!! I am going to plan a ride west in 2008 and I just may take uyou up on your offer!!!! AND see Perfecto, too.

Beth, you are welcome anytime. I have lots of room for horses and people. It would be great to take you on some rides. Perfecto sure can go all day! It's so great for Cheryl, although I think he's created a monster! She used to ride for about an hour, then she'd have to stop because of her back pain. Now, she doesn't want to stop.
Listo and I just got home from 'show n tell' at school! He was such a good boy. I gave each 3rd grader a treat to feed him when they each came up to meet him. He thought those kids were wonderful!

Well, I emailed Lisa to tell her I am bow-out of the Pine Bush Ride this coming weekend. Here are some reasons...The past weekend I rode at Brookfield trails and had some folks on pasos that wanted to ride with me. Needless to say we did not even get out of the assembly area before I told them it would just not work. Number one their horses were barefoot. These trails are brutal and no horse should be asked to travel there without shoes. Secondly, they were yelling "whoa" a whole lot and that is always a big clue that they are not riders. I know that none of us would have had a good ride together. When I came back (5 hours later) their horses were laying down and guess what??? they were sore footed! They will be lucky to get out of it with just stone bruise and not develop abcess. I am not saying that the Pine Bush ride would be like this, but I AM saying that my horses are in top condition this time of year, we ride at a good competitive speed (6-7 mph) and to ask my horses to giddy-up and whoa every 1/4 mile for others to catch-up is not fair to them, nor is it fair to the slower, unconditioned horses. I rode with THW's, a couple rockies, a Thorobred cross, and a Peruvian mare (used to be mine), two paso finos (shod and conditioned) and all these horses worked great together. We rode 22 miles on Saturday and 19 miles on Sunday - the only reason is one of the gals has a GPS that will give average speed and distance. So I think I better stick to what I do best and not get a whole lot of people PO'ed at me and continue my (deserved?) reputation of being a hard riding, take no prisoners type of person. Oh yes, one other thing, I like to bring my dogs and I get real tired of people saying their horses are afraid of dogs running thru leaves, etc. I guess I should loan out the beagles as training aids!!!! LOL

Hey Barb - Sorry about the housework thing. But you are welcome to come ride with me anytime and I promise NOT to clean house! And maybe even make some food. We will catch-up some other time.
