So, do you know who hacked it, or are you going to follow precedent?
(I couldn't resist, and I shouldn't have to.)

For what it's worth, I'm not sure how I got the very crippling virus that nearly destroyed Trinity three days ago, but be careful of ".tmp" files when you run task manager. If you see any, close them. It's malware, and you can get it from forums, emails, wherever. Just a heads-up. I consider this one particularly wily, because I *never* get virii, worms, or any other cyber-pests, and this one knocked me cold for awhile. McAfee didn't get it, AVG didn't get it. Adaware missed it, Spybot SAW it, but couldn't do anything about it.

Crystal could you be a little more specific for those of us who are not that computer literate? I know not ALL .tmp files right?I mean there are LOTS of .tmp files that your computer need to run correctly, right? And is Task Manager the same as running your scheduled tasks like disc clean up etc?

My hoster was barley competent enought to fix the problem after Debbie pointed it out to them. As far as they were concerned....the site was running fine. So I don't see how they are going to be able to trace it back to any one person in particular.

They did ask me to change my passwords. It was previously a numerical combination that noone should have guessed out right. So I'm not really sure how it happend. I wish I was more computer literate in these areas. But unfortunatly I have to rely on others....

I am too far away from home at this time to persue it. I now have to reinstall a bunch of stuff which will keep me plenty busy. :-?

Hackers can use a alpha/numeric password generator and let it run until it comes up with the proper password.

I'm trying to find specific information to share, but I can't seem to find any two concurring schools of thought on this .tmp debacle. I know that whatever got mine went in and forcibly disabled my system restore and updates, and then pulled that "cannot display page" and "not available" BS. Now my MSN messenger won't load, and I'm not sure if I'm available on Yahoo, either. I've been using trillian and can connect to yahoo, but not msn. SP2 had to be uninstalled- it was causing a reboot every five minutes or so, and I've finally got McAfee working again... just not the restore and update parts. Argh.
