I took Rico on his first trail ride today, he was very good, a little scared of the dirt roads with mailboxes and houses with all sorts of monsters around them, but he had a buddy that was rock solid and that made him feel pretty safe. It was a beautiful fall day, and temps were high, in the 70's!! He got introduced to mud, streams and cows....took them all with a pretty brave attitude, even wanted to 'round up' some cows once he figured out they were scared of him... 8-)

Another first trail ride! Isn't it great?! I was so proud of Q today and I can't wait to go on more trail rides. I love the area you were riding in. I came from CA with open spaces (flat land farming) and these hills/trees in GA are very different. I'm not used to not being able to see for a long distance.

:D Thanks everyone for the encouragement on Rico, he really did very well. If I could only ride him 'consistently' (which as everyone now knows is not ME :-? ) he would come along pretty fast...I wish Gail lived closer to me..there is no one around that has a 'sane' horse to ride with to give Rico confidence..and I have no 'ring' or round pen to ride him in. I at least want to try and get a few more rides on him before the snow falls...
