The fact that I haven’t done enough different stuff with Michico lately means that he’s hot, hot, hot -no matter what we do. I decided to take him to the show because he needs to go places and do things again to calm down and not act like a fruitcake as soon as he gets out of his pasture. I would have been happy as long as I didn’t get excused from my classes…
I kind of forgot that Michico settles down and completely relies on me when he’s in a new, and scary, environment. He was really spooky, there were 4-5 places along the rail he spooked at every time we passed them. Not to mention the sounding board. We went over it at least 20 times in the morning to practice, until he didn’t even hesitate before he stepped on. In every class he put the brakes on before he stepped on to the darn board. SIGH. Did I mention that he spooked his way around the arena in every class?
Despite all this… we came home with 3 red and one blue
I think we need to go to more shows. LOL
I’ll let PH tell you about the ribbons she got.
The pictures are a bit blurry… I didn’t think you could shake my camera enough to get that amount of distortion on the setting it had. LOL
This is PH and I chatting with friends in the stands

This is from the largo race, we did go quite fast, but not this fast. LOL This is where Michico took his blue and Zar a red. You can see that Michico and I are on the railing, while PH and Zar goes way inside of us. Zar even cut a couple of corners way closer around the sounding board than this. Michico kept even with him all the way –on the railing, for 5 laps until the last lap when I decided that if no one else listened to the loudspeakers begging us to stay on the railing I wouldn’t either. We just passed PH and Zar on the last corner, and PH and I pretty much overtook the other horses (including someone who started behind us because she’d win it anyway, she said. LOL)

PH was really good and gave several kids pony rides too. (Something I can’t do with Michico, he just spooks way too much and acts like someone is going to kill him if we try to lift a kid to his back. Sigh) Anyway, here she is spreading the Paso smile…

I had a ball and will definitely practice some before next show. LOL
