I'd find out how much it weighs and the gullet width. Some of that style are heavier then I like and then run narrow.

There is one saddle company I like on ebay that makes you measure your horse where the saddle would fit ...with a bendable wire and then send the measurements. They won't let you buy a saddle unless you do this...makes sense....less returns and complaints!

try this link...... 18 lb buena vista style saddle

It is made similar to a Tucker endurance. Can not tell the quality of the leather from the picture. It looks to me like the stirrups may be set too far back. The picture has them angled forward but the natural hang would be back. Also can not tell the rigging. Probably single English rigging. I have no problem with English rigging but it could be set to far forward for a paso. Can't see it so do not know.

My goodness Lynn I can't phantom those fenders!!!!!

 Hollis, they're removeable ... the fenders that is. I'd take them off myself as not really needed. ;-)

I considered it for a starting saddle due to its light weight. Also, I liked about this site is the pre-buying saddle fitting instructions.

the worst deal about buying a saddle sight unseen on ebay is whether it will fit your horse and the rider. I've bought three on ebay...one did and two didn't. :-?

Phantom?

Equiteric is a REALLY GOOD company from whom to buy. Excellent prices, shipping, and the deals are great if you're buying individual OR bulk items.

Badlandcowboy, badlandrodeocompany, and generally, anyone with the key term "badland" in their handle (all one and the same, trying to escape bad feedback), on the other hand, are the WORST. Greenrivertack has good PRICES, but I've personally visited their stores, and the leather quality on their saddles is terrible, which is a shame- they have some nicely-shaped saddles. It's unfathomable, however, that they would put beef jerky on a tree and add irons and a girth to it, LOL.

Poni get out Webster
Fathom=1.Measurement or 2.get to bottom of or understand
Phantom=1. something apparently heard or seen but having no phpsical reality. 2. an image as in a daydream or fanatsy having substance only in the mind

Would you say maybe either could be used???

Actually, I was thinking Phantom, as in:

DAAAAAA! DA-DA-DA-DA-DAAAAAAAAAA!, which is what's on my Winamp right now. The original casting- not Rossum/Butler.

What's on your mind?

I took it to mean you were questioning the proper use of the word??

Now lets get to something constructive that I will PM you in a sec.

hollis, here are my thoughts. it is a tucker knock-off. it might be a pretty good one, but you just cant tell unless you get your hands on it, and put it on your horse. for $100 more, you can find a good used tucker, and not have to wonder about the quality. i bought three tucker saddles in the last few years, the last one about 4 months ago. very similar in style to the one you posted about. i paid $750 each for two of them, one brown, one black. i paid $800 for the other one.

also, that stirrup placement is fairly common on endurance type saddles. it allows the rider to stay straighter in the saddle, which helps tremendously if you are riding long distances.

personally, i cant fathom(comprehend) why you would get a knock-off of dubious quality, when you could get a real tucker saddle for about the same money. cowboy ed
