Hi everyone,
I've just started riding PFs this year here in MA. Sounds as if I've met some of you at Bobby's clinic in Middleboro over the Columbus Day weekend. Terri, you may remember me -- Chrissie let me ride Rio, but I wasn't having such an easy time of it?

Anyway, I'm crazy about these PFs, so I try to get to the farm every weekend. I'm looking forward to leasing and eventually buying (within the year I hope). Just got to start riding different horses.

I really do not know what I want to do with my horse yet. I don't even know whether I want performance or pleasure (although I understand the distinction has blurred). I want to trail ride, but I also want one more activity. :-?

You are making the right decision by test riding many different horses before buying. It's best to decide what your preferences are. Many times they change from what you first thought you wanted. What fun it is to test ride. 8-)

Welcome to the forum. 8-)

Hi Sharon, I sure do remember you! You would have been fine on Rio if he wasn't so worried about Nieta going off or if you were used to him. You can come out and try him again if you want. Rio is what we refer to as a "show cull" he was bred and trained for the show ring, but never had that nice tight gait necessary. And no matter how much they tried to "brio" him up, he much preferred napping. He is just my kind of trail horse! His gait, while not particularly tight is very smooth and he has a kick a$$ largo, but couldn't fino if his life depended on it. It is my guess that this is the type of Paso you will be looking for. Unless you are planning to show, I would suggest you give anything labeled "performance" a wide berth. So if you are just planning on trail riding around the state forests and the like, you might want to focus on those labeled "pleasure". You want a trial buddy, and while great gait is nice, as long as it feels smooth to you other factors could become more important. Like will he walk quietly on a loose rein if you feel like it, has he been completely desensitized to trail monsters and is he willing to share your lunch like so:

Perfectly Normal. You are a healthy horse addict. Take two emails from Erin and call Brenda in the morning.

Sharon P, that can only be treated w/a Paso ride. It's the sure cure for fino fever.

Hi Sharon P! I was at the Del Fuego clinic too. I think I met you and talked to you. Did you buy a raffle ticket from me? I'm thinking that is who you are because you sounded horse crazy and didn't have one yet!

The raffle isn't over yet. I think they will draw the winner at the spring meeting. Have you been paso shopping yet?

SharonP

Hi Laura,
For now, I am only Paso shopping on a "virtual" level. In the meantime, I am going to try to work out a half-lease with someone.

I would like a horse for trail riding plus other things, so at this point, I'm not really sure exactly what I want.

Hi Sharon, Could we coax you out to western MA this Sat. Nov. 11 to Equine Affaire at the Eastern States Exposition in W. Springfield??? There will be an assembly of NE owners/riders/horses doing a Paso Fino Demo at 5 p.m. It's always an exciting event and we'd love to have you come so we can meet you
