I was just curious if anyone on here had anything that was by him or had his bloodlines. I have seen a few out of him and really liked them. Thoughts on that blood anyone?

Wow, look at Mel, she's all vicious and everything. Ripping half her horse's ear off and attacking her best friend. Kevin better watch his step. ;-)

I have a Terremoto/Tormento bred mare. ASB...did you ever read the story of what happened to poor Terremoto? There is a reason he didn't have a lot of offspring!

The mare I have I am going to start in the spring. I have had her for sale but will likely pull her off sale and go ahead and start her in '07. She is solid dark bay, with a tiny..maybe quarter-sized star, and is all dappled out right now. I got her at the Flying M Paso Auction. She is a Panorama II daughter (he is by Terremoto) and out of a mare named La Reina, a Tormento daughter. So, in the third generation she is Rescate, Maria Luisa, Impacto II, Plebeyo, La Plumaje, & Chucuano.

She is *maybe* 14HH...I have not sticked her in two years and was waiting to see if she would get any taller...she has, but I don't know exactly how much. She is built like Panorama II.

Panorama is a Terremoto son....So that means my Mina has him in her pedigree.
Echo also has him on his Dam's side.

Vitral is also his offspring...and he produced Maraquero de Vitral the hottie in the ring right now.
Terremoto seems to have been an awesome reproducer for the short time before he was gelded! Have you guys heard the story on that?

Terremoto's story is a horrible one.... good thing they did not find him...dead from loss of blood over that deal...

Ok....so would you like to relate that story for those of us who haven't a clue as to what you're talking about?? ;-)

Best to read that at pasopedigree..its all written out in two pages probably.

Oh oh..went to link it and I don't see it there anymore..... !
Lori...do you know what happened to that Terremoto story or is it available elswhere?

Well there used to be a very interesting article on Terremoto on Pasopedigree, but it's no longer there.

I'll do my best to re-tell it, but I'm sure I will be corrected somewhere along the line. ;-)

Terremoto was a great fino stallion in Colombia, prized by his owner who also happend to be a figure head in one of the drug cartels. Now like there will be in drug cartel rings...there was some fighting amongst other cartels and their leaders over territory, drugs, or w/e. So one leader had the prized stallion kidnapped and left him castrated in a back alley where he was left to be found by his owner. Terremoto was gelded in his prime as a fairly young horse leaving only a limited number of direct offspring. Some of which are considered to be GREAT horses....and their offpspring also seem to carrying on in the tradition. 8-)

If anyone else has other info on his story please share. This is just the best of my recolection of the article.

Terremoto was stolen in the night and gelded...I *thought* because he was winning everything, and the other cartel could not stand the competition, and wanted to put some hurt down on the owner too...

As usual.... the HORSE paid the price....for man's vanity.

Hey Lori...ask Carlos what happened to the story ;-)

GAWD...I was afraid of that...sorry I asked...

(would like to do the same to whoever did that to him... )

Terremotto is still alive and still a great horse....he just can't reproduce anymore. :-?

Terry- I should have just said it happended over money b/c that is what it boils down to whether the reasons were drugs, territory, or winning ribbons/titles. ;-)

Terremoto was found wandering the streets the next day.... :(

That is why there are few Terremoto offspring..... ;-)

I understand Lori... hopefully that story is still available somewhere! it is worth the read....

No doubt drugs & money cause LOTS of problems....

I don't think it had much to do with his winning in the ring. It was a drug thang. The incident is mentioned in the book "Killing Pablo", by Mark Bowden.

BTW Mel, Terremoto has not been declared Fuera de Concurso, as far as I know, therefore ASB is within acceptable parameters, with placement of this thread.

Speaking of drugs and pasos.....

Do any of you know who Joaquin Mario Valencia-Trujillo is/was? He owned La Luisa

There was an article in a local paper, called Tampa Bay Times, that said he was found guilty of coke smuggling...faces 40 years in prison.

Says he was an owner of a paper company and ran a horse farm where he bred prize-winning Paso Fino horses.

I think it was the owners brother who was more involved in the whole drug thing. The owner itself even offered another of of his top stallions in return for Terremoto

Yes, you are right Bridgette...the gelding was to be a "message" to Pablo, not to Roberto.

I wish we could see that original article on him....*maybe* I printed it out...seems like I did years ago...I will have to check...

Terremoto de Manizales to me one of the greatest stallions ever, some horses that have Terremoto as one of his ascendants
Vitral (and all of his great sons including (Imponente, Maraquero and el As), Tormento de la Virginia, Milenio de la Virginia, Joyero III, Husseín, Artesano, (Recompensa de Potrerillo and Lechona del V8 Out of Contest in Colombia), Terremoto II, Pecadora de Hierbabuena, Delirio de Terremoto, Contienda del Escarabajo, Macondo, Artista V8, Coqueta, in the Dominican Republic some of the best horses right now have Terremoto as one of his/hers ascendants to name a few Consentida La Rosa (9 grand Championships), Vitral La Rosa, Candidato La Rosa, Guajira de San German. In the US lets not forget also Heredero de Jonseb National Champion 2006 his mother was out of Terremoto de Manizales.

Nuh Uh - it says right under the forum heading:

For serious Paso Fino talk about stallions, pedigrees, shows, breeding, and more.
