A couple of hotties that we spotted. I like the one in the olive shirt.

Me being a giant dork, that motorhome was NICE! It just needed some space for horses

Side note: My wonderbread t-shirt got some "Ricky Bobby" comments.

A rear shot of the two hotties from the earlier pic. Maybe I like the one in the maroon shirt better now.

He's positively radiant with redneck NASCAR fervor!

(Was the noble silhouette Richard? Seriously- I'm the only one in any crowd who knows absolutely nothing about sports unless it involves rhinestones. I have to know this for peace of mind, that I either am or am not completely out of touch with the rest of the sporting world.)

It'd totally do him just to get to wear that hat and his jewelry.

I can't believe I actually got something right. The other night at our costume ball, they kept on calling out the Cards scores, in between dances, and J said "what, is it like football season or something?" I said "I dunno, I don't involve myself in any sport that involves balls flying at my nose." Yes. I bought the Clueless DVD. I'm not ashamed to admit it.

I don't know...but I remember Mel saying on the old board that she was buds with his daughter. Just doin' some cipherin', and that is what I came up with. Of course, I could be wrong, but that is the sort of trivia that clutters my mind, and spews forth at random.

8-) 8-) Found a bio online...if she isn't his daughter, there is an obsessive fan that lives in the same town, who named their daughter the same name, with the same spelling.

Jane....The King, is Richard Petty.

It definately isn't the music. When you are flying, you gotta keep up with the weather. :D

Also, looking for ski season since he is in his skiing spot now. Gotta love Colorado.

I am actually on 183. If you know where the shop is, we are just before you get to it across the street. We are the lonely house with the field that gets like 4 feet tall before someone cuts it. LOL!!!

Cindy
11-01-2006, 03:33 PM
OK, I couldn't remember if the shop was on 53 or 183. I used to drive that all the time when we were living in Elijay and building here. Don't get over that way much any more but I will scope you out when I do.

OK...I can't act all cool, detached and mature anymore...

OMG!!! ASB, I can't believe that your daddy is Bill Elliot! The real Million Dollar Bill!?!?! The only NASCAR tee-shirt I ever owned was a Bill Elliot tee-shirt. I loved Thunderbirds because of Bill Elliot! I got interested in NASCAR because of Bill Elliot!

Ahem....getting my composure back...sorry...didn't mean to sound so "Starr-struck"....I'll behave and act my age now. 8-) But your daddy really is cool.

I agree, he is cool (even tho he doesn't drive a Chevy  )..
But I must admit I haven't watched a Nascar race since 'my man' died... ...just can't do it. He was THE reason I loved racing...loved watching that black #3...and Milda, if you ever read this BB don't think for a minute that I will EVER forget you taking me to the Childress museum in Welcome, so long ago....
Sorry to get off topic... :(...
ASB you're a lucky girl to have such a great dad!!! :D

I remember that first year....lap #3, everyone in the stands stood up, held up 3 fingers, and the announcers kept quiet. It killed me every time. I really think that was an end to an era...when Dale died. That's why I always pull for the "old school" dirivers....it was a family sport, but it's lost that "feel", to a great extent.

BTW...since I pulled the cat out of the bag...I'll expect pit passes if I'm ever in Atlanta! ;-)

Actually he has raced in Chevys. This year as a matter of fact at a couple of races. ;-)

I would have to say that racing as it was is now gone. It is more popular but it isn't racing anymore. Too much aerodynamics, too many restrictions on the engines. It is no longer if you can build, you can race it. It may say Dodge, Ford, Chevy on the side but they are all the same. There is nothing about any of those cars that make them any differend from each.

Now the car of the future is coming. One car, one type of engines (will only be one engine builder for them from what I hear). NASCAR has become greedy. Owners and Drivers lost sponsors to them. NASCAR went to the Sponsors and said "hey look, why put your name on a car that may or may not get seen when you can give us the sponsorship and it will". Alot of people lost out.

Now they also have this junk points system that should be thrown out. Why only have ten cars that can run at the end? They have a qouta to meet. They have to have so many before the race is televised. ;-) They are making not even worth running.

Well there ya go, ASB, see?? I told ya it's been a long time since I've watched a race.... ;-)
And yup, have to agree that 'stock cars' today are not anything that turns me on compared to what they 'used' to be..... :-?

Oh lord!!! I just realized no one answered your question. That is "The King" of Racing, Richard Petty. He has started and won more races than lots of drivers put together.

Racing isn't the same; that is for sure. I know of two sad, empty racetracks -- Rockingham and North Wilkesboro -- that have fallen to the greed. (I think they have drag racing or something at Rockingham, but NW is sitting empty.)

I last went to a race at Lowe's Motor Speedway a few years ago. It's still a lot of fun to go. I just like how loud the cars are and how you can feel them go by. I cringe when there's an accident though -- I definitely don't go for that!

Your pictures are great; I am glad Mel posted them.

I love your guys points of views...I want the old' school back!
AND I am sure many of you guys heard how someone from Evernham racing made shirts that have COT (Car of tomorrow) in a circle with a line through it....I LOVED it! Someone is finally going against a stupid change NASCAR has made, sometimes I just wonder if Earnhardt was still alive would Toyota be coming into racing? Would they of changed the paint system? Would there be a car of tomorrow? Makes you wonder...
ALSO have to add....About 20 of my friends and I are getting shirts made for the Homestead race that have COT in a cirlce with a line through it....WATCH TRACK SIDE TO SEE IF THEY GET ON!
