View Full Version : Lets clean it up again....

It's that time again....time to remind everyone to keep it clean. ;-)
There has been a aweful lot of mild curse words used, and the many variations of them that can get past the censor.....Pasomom is a bit disturbed by this so I have to ask you guys to curtail it again. I think we have this little meeting about every 6 months, so I guess we are over due.
I would like the Mods to go in and edit on the spot any posts that have a live curse word.
I am guilty of using arse and the like myself. But as PasoMom has pointed out...they still read like the actual cuss word...so what is the point? You guys are very articulate adults...and I am sure you can find other words to make your points.
Thanks for your cooperation in this matter.

You know, this is really stupid. "They can still THINK it, though".. Is your mommy going to come and edit all our minds from thinking these things? Is that the only excuse you guys can come up with as valid? Please. There are many different opinions, and few of them are similar. Why don't you just find one opinion that goes with your grain, and "edit" all the rest?
Come on... this is ridiculous. I'm not sorry. Pretty soon your mother will be telling you to edit out anything that doesn't concur with her beliefs.
Wait- it's that way already.

Sorry, Ginger, but I totally disagree. The administrators put a lot of time and expense into keeping this board up and available for our use. It's their right to set the parameters. They want it to be a "general membership" board -- meaning that it has to be appropriate for readers of different ages, including kids. They have the right . . . some might say even the obligation . . . to keep it clean. If it's too much to ask that you (a general "you" not "you" specifically) follow their rules without getting snitty about them, then you shouldn't post here.

Well, I went an edited my own...even though the post has lost it's "feel", with the edit.
I also wanted to make note of the severe pain in the posterior it is, to try to actually FIND a thread, once you leave and return (and yes, I use the view new posts since last visit..which is the problem, because I forget to pay attention to what FORUM the posts are in...it's that thinking problem Ginger spoke of). With the multitude of different forums...I'm a bit like a blind legless woman, trying to walk through a closed door. I know it won't change with my complaint, but I wanted to complain anyway. Edit if you must!

I've got no problem watching what I say....although I'm not sure I said anything.....so maybe if it's me I need a ruler smack now and then.
I come here for the horse talk and the friendship. I don't mind the humor and other stuff, but I can see how some people might get offended.
I could be wrong, but isn't this Lori's website? Didn't you initiate this and don't you maintain it, Lori? If so, then anyone who doesn't like the way it's run has the absolute option of creating their own message board and community and being as vulgar and descriptive as they want THERE.
I don't think there is a single thing wrong with asking people to keep to a standard that you can be proud of when you work so hard to create and maintain something.
Lori, you've done a wonderful job of bringing a caring group of horse people together to discuss topics they all care about. We are a true community with real friendships being formed. Hold to your standards and don't sweat the criticism. I doubt anyone here could do a better job than you have of bringing such great people together. That's the important part.

What a presumptuous and infantile response to a civilized request. I am (only mildly) curious as to why anyone would keep coming back to a board for the sole purpose of whining about the rules... Oh - to get attention... Again - infantile...

You may think whatever you want anytime you want...I know I do on my side of the computer all the time.
There is no "excuse"....the rules have been the same the ENTIRE time. It's just time to REMIND everyone again to follow the set rules.
If I edited all the things that didn't go w/my grain.....this forum would be pretty empty. Trust me...I get real sick of reading some stuff and I would love to just delete delete. I can think of at least 3 or 4 thread that are going on right now that I don't agree with.
Just remember....The same Mom that will tell you to wash your mouth out is the same one who will clean up your scraped knee and make it all better. ;-)

Lori...you are too cute, and I think you're doing an incredible job at maintaining the "standard". You have a well-appreciated, neutral approach at refereeing heated topics, and keeping the peace...that is HARD to do!!
So, I give. I know I'm guilty as charged.....hand me the soap.
I'll watch my dirty little mouth more closely. ;-)

I did not realize that so many peeps, myself included, use the word "arse". If you do a search on just that word alone, you will find a lot of threads pop up. Zoinks!
Sorry, Lori.

I will cry if this board ever goes away from the loving, friendly, happy place it is now.
This kind of snuck in on me and I just finished reading the thread so far. I looked over my most recent posts and didn't find any cussing. I did post pictures of my work...and I hope they aren't offensive..but if they are I wouldn't hesitate to honor a request to delete them...nor anything I ever wrote here.
Anyone who's ever met Lori and her mother could never speak about her that way. She's dedicated to this breed, she's an angel when it comes to making people feel included, and I cannot say enough good about her but I'll keep trying.
I "Get" one theme on this board and its friendship. I look forward to coming here everyday. Thank you so much for giving me a place to talk horses and talk with horse people. I am VERY Greatful.

I don't expect that you do care..... it is more than evident from your post that you have an extreme lack of consideration of others.

Like water off a duck. Don't get upset about it. People like that - when ignored - are just strange people muttering to themselves about the ridiculous. Listen too closely to them and they feel empowered. Then they really start to spout nonsense.

How hilarious.... so middle school....
Use ba-aa-a-ad words to get attention - use BIG ba-a--a-d words to get more attention. Insult and pitch tantrums to get most attention....
Grow up - or go to the kids forum... No wait.... they are far more mature and deserving of space on this board... (Hats off to the kids forum! ;-) )
Name should be: Too immature to be offensive
Location should be: Place where whining and bellyaching is tolerated by other people who are also too arrogant and immature to sign their names because they think people might pay more attention to them if they are ba-a-a--ad.
Go away and come back if and when you can make a positie contribution.
I _so_ love not being a moderator....

When are the people who use this forum going to wake up and understand they do not own this forum and therefore are somewhat limited to what can be said that is not offensive to others. This is Lori's bulletim board and if you respect her then you will respect her wishes that common sense be used in your posts.
This is not censorship but just once again plain common sense. I have been targeted in the past for whatever reasons insulting my religion, and what I believe in but I will still defend Lori and her ownership rights of this forum. It is hers PERIOD! and whatever rules she sets up should and must be in accordance with her principles of what is acceptable.
Every single one of us should be thankful for this forum because it has helped many to obtain information about the horses we love and care about. I know it has helped me on questions about Pasos.
While I am not specifically interested in men's butts, I find it amusing that so many are and this is just entertainment for me not offensive. Personally I would rather look at the rear of a horse and not a human one. No I am not a pervert. But horse's rear ends look a lot better especially when the judge hands you a check for several thousand dollars and says I liked his conformation in his rear end. Now how about that?
Anyway, after all that Lori THANK YOU, for putting up with so many childish remarks in some posts of the craniel challenged. And now to answer your ?? Lori here is your :D

Hi guys!!!
We missed all the fun!!! Ya know - there are a lot of forums out there. Stating your disagreement and the reason for it in a polite manner is one thing. Being nasty is another.
You may not agree with the rules that are set but you do have to abide by them. Us too for that matter. We live with it or we leave. Really simple.

Pasomom,
You'r not mean. You just expect basic manners. Not too much to ask I'd say.
Like I said before every now and then it's not a bad thing to have our "mom" remind us of our manners.
Knowing me, I have streched the limits of misspelling cuss words so I coud use them. I'll really try to behave (but it is difficult sometimes)

I agree with pnally. Common sense and above all courtesy should rule any forum. And Pasomom I agree with you also. I guess one thing we should all remember is the old phrase, "There, BUT for the GRACE of GOD go I".
I really enjoy this forum because so many different opinions can be considered and be helpful. Don't let a few destroy so much. PLEASE!

pnalley,
NO, I am not mean, and in private (not on this board) I can cuss with the rest of you, and some of you know that. I'm not a prude, but this board has rules, and they are that way for a reason.
Thanks for saying that, and I appreciate everyone understanding that this board has to be maintained at a certain level. If let go, it can turn into a monster that can not be straightened out easily. I know winter time poses some problems, as most of you guys are "homebound" and unable to ride. So you come here to talk about your beloved horses and communicate with others, but sometimes stress levels are high, and things tend to get a little out of hand. So we try to remind everyone of the rules in as nice a way as we can. Most of the time, we just delete words or phrases that are not acceptible and don't even bother to send a nasty gram. People will see that their post has been altered and know we are still on the job.
It just makes life a little easier on us if everyone can behave without having to be moderated.
Thank you all for your defense of our website. We really appreciate it.
This is a family and we need to stick together to insure the survival of the family.
I will cry if this board ever goes away from the loving, friendly, happy place it is now.

As I stated when I first joined.... I do not envy you both when it comes to running this board. You will have your hands full and it will be a full time job keeping it up to the standards you set in the beginning. I am very proud of you both and the mods - I truely appreciate what you are doing. Folks should be really glad I don't have a delete button! Keep up the great work!
From a person that would love to spend more time on the board but has 12 horses starting under saddle so Lori can take her pick on which one to ride! And did I mention in a new barn..... ;-)

Good luck with your barn building! Not an easy chore!
Thanks for the support! It's nice to hear from those who support us. You are right, it is not an easy job. We try not to be TOO extreme in either direction, and we try to allow for a little fun and honest debate.
