View Full Version : When good ponies go bad

Yep. Don't get between an alpha mare and the whimp at feeding time. When you are stupid, this can happen. You get bit!

I HATE it when people say, "It wasn't their fault!!!" She knew the minute she latched on that she made a BIG mistake. How stupid can I get. Miserable horse. Going to go fire up the barbeque, now. For supper there will be beautifully marbled horse steak with garlic mashed potatoes and cream corn. You're all invited.
Oh - and no comments about "old lady flappy arm" syndrome, either.

Beth, what time's dinner? I will bring the wine. Hmm, what goes with horse steaks, red or white?

11-04-2006, 05:45 PM
I think red Barb.....got a bottle at home! Pick me up on your way through!!!!!
Marci bit my hand once, my own dumb fault, not paying close attention when giving her a handful of hay.....she too knew right way that wasn't what she was supposed to be eating!
So Beth - did she at least look apologetic at all?

YOW!!!! I can just imagine what that's gonna look like in a coupla days! Yikes!
Did you try to kill her for the John-Lyons-dictated length of time? (Is it 3 seconds or 5?)
Beth Worden
11-04-2006, 06:33 PM
Monty - yeah, ouch - not quite the word I used, but close enough.
Jodi - between the gruntin' and the bitin' you may have yourself a deal if you catch me on the right day! LOL
Barb, Lisa - I think a nice merlot will work. If not that, then a cabernet savignon will do. Say about 7-ish for cocktails?
Jane - here's the b@@@@ of it...Had she got me in the other arm pit I would not feel a thing because THAT one is permanently numb from surgery! And, no, I did not get to clobber her (or the wimp) within the 3 second timeframe because I was busy cussing and had my eyes squeezed shut for 15 seconds or so. Then I had to pretend nothing happend and THAT was the hard part. I DID cuss her out but in a very soothing voice, but it made me feel a little better, anyway. Can you imagine if it was summer and I did not have on the (semi) protection of a turtleneck and fleece coat covering that arm!
And I STILL have not got a ride in. Better go now and ride the bejeepers of of that witch.

Don't forget the Horsey Sauce!
Ouch Beth...that looks bad, and I'm sure the rainbow has only begun. It's got to hurt. I have great empathy for you.

that happened to me once but it was my hand that intervened between a mare lunging to bite at another. She did stop and not complete the bite with full force realizing it wasn't the other horse in her mouth..still hurt.
Yours looks like a wow!-ser of a bite. Its that saying, you're better off being kicked by a horse (depends upo where) then bitten by one!
get better soon. I have had one good bite once, and the skin impression stayed awhile I'll say and the colors were quite vibrant.

Well I just got back from riding the grunting, biting pig. And she only grunted a couple times, of course I was not going real fast but I did put her down a couple of real "crouper testers." I also "center-fired" the cinch. I think her obesity has a lot to do with the grunts. It's a darn good thing she rides better than she bites!
Shelly - let's just say she will more than likely NEVER tick me off again. But she dosen't hold a grudge and neither do I. She was the fist one to the gate and happy to go to work for me.
It does not hurt too bad. I've had worse. I HATE broken ribs. Now, THEY really hurt. Unfortunately, I was still able to still chase the vacuum around. We horse women are tough!!!!!

 Oh, I can imagine a few choice words were said after you caught your breath ,besides ouch :!: I was being polite since this is a family site. ;-)
I remember several people at the barn where we were before the horses came here ,were rather "shocked" at my language when I was tipping a water barrel back up, and a horse kicked me and nailed my knee! She had been standing there quiet and all of a sudden lashed out. No warning at all ! I had to grab the rail and hold my self up and then try to get out of the pen .
Same thing when I was putting a lead on a gelding and he did a slight rear - my glove caught and he raised me off the ground by my little finger !

Oh yes - you should see it today! VERY ugly! Long sleeves are in order at work for awhile, uless I want sympathy. (wink)
Ah, yes, Lukka. Well I made another monster yesterday, because my dear friend Erica and her hubby came to visit and while the husband's did "manly things" Erica and I went riding for a couple hours and guess what! Erica wants one, too. I told her to wait until the babies hit the ground.
Found a nice "Rowdy Rawhide" stud that ships A!. Should be quite a match.

Did you tell Erika she is next in line behind me?
Beth Worden
11-06-2006, 07:20 PM
Ah...Barb, yes I did of course. You are Number 2 behind Jodi. However, as Erica was riding Lukka she said, "S+++, you aren't ever gonna sell this horse, are you?" I told her she was probably right. LOLOLOL

Holy crap! The bruise multiplied....you didn't feed it after midnight did you?
I hope someone gets this joke....
I'm thinking Lukka TOLD her to do it, so, um...yeeeaah, I'd better take her. Is $1200 enough...I mean, she did try to indirectly bite you, so the price is fair for a nasty old witch of a mare..... ;-)
Beth Worden
11-08-2006, 04:46 PM
No, I did not feed it - nor did I get it wet. ;-) Of COURSE I got the joke.

For the football fans out there, has anyone ever noticed the resemblence of Michael Vick to a gremlin? Just not sure if he is Gizmo or Stripe. :D
Yeah, that's one rich gremlin! Actually, I kinda thought that bruise looked alot like Vick's shoe!
