Did another one nighter and man tonight was so much fun. most of the time when we arrive to do something people are nice and say hello then go about talking to the people they know and not the entertainment (hired help) I feel like an outsider

When we arrived tonight, I helped Ellis take equipment to the stage area and the first thing happend this lady came up to take a picture of us then she started talking to me like she had known me forever. Most times I am just in the background. We had 5 squares on the floor at once. that is 40 people. All ages too!! That is the best part. there were at least twice that many more there doing hayrides sitting around several outdoor fireplaces chatting. It was wonderful! At one point someone spilled water on one of the fireplaces and gosh did it ever cause lots of smoke and we were choking so bad. Poor Ellis could not see the floor and had a hard time breathign and singing at the same time.

I took lots of pictures Will post when I have time to edit them. By the time it was over we had 2 more bookings. I love it. Since Ellis is disabled but still has his voice this makes him feel so useful. Poor baby thinks I am working him to death getting the house done but he needs to rest from that and work when he feels like it. Would be great if we could get a bunch of you guys to come for dinner and get it done. yeah right just hop on the next plane right? But seriously folks just being able to share it with you is nice. We had lots of broken tiles so I took a hammer and broke into smaller pieces and with some 18 inch size tiles we had here 12 i think. Ellis cut the corners off for me and place in a stepping stome pattern and we are putting all the broken pieces all around makes a wonderful mosaic. It has bits and pieces of all the different tiles I have used in the house and then some extra ones i got from my son in law's flooring installtion business. And believe me I am not wasting anything LOL  ;-) I can't wait till it is done.

we have a couple weeks off, thanksgiving, then one on Dec 2nd parade on Dec 9th 11am then RCA meeting 3 hours away from Greenville at 2 pm ( I guess I won't be able to change outta my costume.
Kids rormal weeding here on the 29th and another one nighter in Inverness on Jan 19th. Not settled on dates for tonights 2 bookings.

And that was my day, how was yours

Leila,
Frankly your posts exhaust me..... most of the time I am left wondering if you are on speed, or whether you are just one of those lucky people who only require 4 hours of sleep and can therefore have multiple lives in the same 24 hour period.

Wonderful to read your cheery and "exhausting" posts. :D

Edurne: LOL nope not on speed unless you consider me looking at my calendar and thinking oh god i gotta hurry.

Nope but sometimes people have a tendancy to think just because you are retired from a job or disability that the world stands still and it doesn't.

My family certainly seems to feel that way that all i have to do is sit home and watch the grand kids not thinking of other things that go with it.. It is like driving a car. you think it is a simple feat but if you sat down and actually think of what you have to do to drive you will see it keeps you very busy.

Since Ellis is disabled and we take care of our grand children 8 horses, 7 dogs, 1 cat, 1 pig and one bird, doing laundry, cooking, making appointments ect ect ect well you get the idea. So since Ellis is also a square dance caller he gets hired to do one nighters and i love it. But then i love meeting people and seeing them smile. He was a caller before he got hurt. So we also drive 86 miles one way every tuesday night

Sooo just for you Edurne I will nto post for awhile so you can rest up ;-) LOL

no, no, no.......... I didn't mean it to hurt you,
but as a way of showing my awe....... I know at least three other people who have the tremendous energy that you seem to exhibit...... and I do envy it...... Unfortunately i can't multi-task, :-? and I need to sleep 8 plus hours just to do the school photography and driving that goes with it. so just realise how that my snippiness  came from feeling inadequate. I love your energy. keep posting. maybe you will inspire me.
sorry.

I'm sorry about your mother's trip to the hospital - having spent more than my fair share of time at bedside in intensive care units this year - you have my prayers. "......may you have the courage, patience and determination to meet and overcome the inevitable difficulties in life."

well made it home just fine. They got mom to the hospital only to "rush" her literally to a bed... okay!!!!.. yeah right in the hallway in front of nurses station for 3 hours. Then finally a room. I asked what tests were run in the am that had results so drastic she needed to get to ER asap? No one knew! great! ok dad what tests were run .. well they ran bloodwork.. yes i know that but what kind of tests... they drew from her arm.. ok let me try it this way was it a liver function, cbc, cholesterol? Ohhhhh i don't know . So now i am getting somewhere i think. i ask nurse .. they don't know but are running more tests... what kind.. will let you know. then bless her heart my mom hard of hearing , asking no questions because she doesn't want to sound stupid, because she can't hear says they are running more tests for my cholesteral. finally i have had it. it is now 10 pm and i have been here since 6 i want to know something!!. a nice nurse kindly explained ,, a cbc, liver scan, potassium, bmg and a couple others. now we are getting somewhere. oh yes her cholesterol was fine

the test they were most concerned about was the bmg which measures the fluid level around moms heart and lungs. so they push lasix iv so this will drain. they tell mom they are going to cath her and she freaks! she has heard the word cath too many times , 5 to be exact when speaking of a heart cath. starts crying and begs me to go get dad. i get him and then call the nurse off to the side and gently explains mom panics because instead of explaining foley cath they simply said cath and mom assumed another heart procedure and became scared outa her wits. i also explained to the nurse when talking to elderly folks an extra moment of explaination would be nice if time permits because i know sometimes there is not time to explain. the nurse was so sweet and appreciated the input

Ellis went with me, ate a bit before we left and before we could make 3 miles from home i had to pull over so he could throw up. he is in the van resting so i am going back and forth checking. they nurses were great. after i explained what the mix up was that caused mom to panic they 100 % agreed.

as it turns out no more damage to the heart , a bit more fluid. from 10-midnight i was outside chatting with the son of a friend i went to school with. poor kid he was an emt scheduled to work at 7 am and came in with a very broken nose which he went to the bathroom and set himself but seriously needed it xrayed to be sure there were no bone fragments and he had been there since 6 and they kept putting people ahead if him. he was having some difficulty breathing so he wanted to be sure it was ok. he was still there when mom came out to go home and with a sheepish grin congratulated us for our release while he stayed on to wait god knows how long.

i asked the nurses if they could get him in since there were 11 empty rooms and was kindly told the triage nurse was in a bad mood tonight so they dare no cross her to ask because he may be put back further. WOW

anyhoo i am home just put on a load of laundry and going to crash myself.[/color]
