Went riding yesterday w/chico. Havent ridden him in 2months. He has gained weight quit a bit.. My columbian saddle didnt fit him well at all, had to get off 3'x to adjust it while riding, and constantly tilting it back into place.. SUCKED, and I felt bad for chico. He actually didnt act up at all, just off in his gaites and I of cource felt very awkward riding this moving saddle..lol
SO this is what I want for christmas:

A treeless saddle. I have gone thru 3 saddlees w/chico due to his size changes.. He is 7 now, but gains alot of weight in the winter so his saddle doesnt fit...
But my pockets are empty and I cant afford it.. So maybe santa will remember me this yr.lol

I like the looks of that saddle. I'd put it on my xmas list but Santa has his hands full for me this year.
Hope your Santa brings it to you.

MUSTANG  Yikes!!! (well, there are gaited mustangs IF you look hard enough)
But, there's got to be an affordable Paso Fino near you!!! Have you looked at rescues and shelters? See what they have?
Lana, you'll LOVE your BM!! I love mine. If the BM is more then Santa can handle, you might look at a Barefoot. They are built the same, but have more english type models (and are priced a LOT more reasonably). We just had a thread about them:

I bought one from this thread and LOVE it. It's my favoirte saddle now. If you don't want the Dressage, you might look at the Cheyenne. It's more for trail riding.

I want a large PF horse farm -- but all the horses would be mine. Also, I'd like several cats, three Clumber Spaniels, and a veterinarian husband.

do you think the owner might finance? *bookmarks ad* thanke :D
as for the shelters and whatnot, do they give horses away for free or do you gotta pay a fee?

Does Chico have a prominent spine?
I really wanted a treeless saddle at one time. They are so cool and comfy looking. I probably won't ever get one for a couple of reasons. They probably don't apply to you and Chico but I will share anyway in case anyone with a situation like mine is considering plunking out the dough!
I was told that I could not use a treeless on Phoebe because of her prominent spine.
I also have not gone treeless because I am a more heavy weight rider and they do not recommend treeless for people like me.

If you get a Bob Marshall be careful about getting the endurance model. The stirrups are set back for posting a trot and I found it very uncomfortable for me. I sold it and got me the western pleasure saddle and it is very comfortable.

As far as I know chico does not have a prominent spine, I never really thought about it.. He has more wide witheres right now due to his weight...
I am a heavier person too, didnt even think of that...
Thanks for the heads up on the endurance model! Again, didnt even notice that!
Anyone have opinions on a flex tree?
I dont want to really spend more than $500 for my budget right now, used seems my only option because of that...

not to worry....my paso fino has a very prominent spine, and he does best in my BM trail saddle, and the Torsion....he moves with more energy, and more freely...

They have a Demo option, I might have to try this one...

Never heard of them...looks cushy like the Barefoots do.
See if they do a 7-day trial period. Keep it spotlessly clean (in plastic) and ride in it. See how it does for mounting, dismounting, weighting one side or the other. And then decide if you like it.
Looks like a nice trail saddle to me.

A treeless saddle that WILL work for a horse with a high wither/spine is the Trekker Treeless. It's German made and I have one for my Tia with a high wither. I got the Trekker for that very reason.
It has "panels" that velcro on the underside. You can put them where you need them. They are made of neoprene-type material and they work great. Good news is they are less than the Bob Marshall and I think it is equally as comfortable (for me) as well as fitting a high-withered horse.
I will look for a website. Don't confuse it with a saddle made here in the US that is called a Treker Trail saddle.
OK - here's the site

LOLOL - How about in English. Sorry did not check the site prior to posting. Anyhoo, I see them on Ebay often. I got mine from an endurance site - slightly used.
