I rode Yoda for the second time yesterday and we had a great one in a acre plus pasture. I mounted and dismounted from both sides several times we flexed(actually he flexed himself umteen times )and he transitioned gaits smoothly . His feet were sticky compared to his first time in the roundpen when he boogied lots but I was pleased both ways. I chaulk the sticky feet /standing and not going anywhere= to getting the feel of a rider finding new ballence and some slight protest and balking. He did all gaits walk, corto, canter that I asked and the first time bit in his mouth with reins was also sucessful. I have ground driven(long lines) him once before the first time I rode him about six months ago.I saw Yoda born helped him out of his sac and he was such a pesty pushy horse all his life I expected some real playfullness but he likes the idea of being riden. I have slowly got him used to weight on his back and all the boogies throwing over his back friendly wise and he has been fun and easy so far.few bucks mostly adjustment and feel with saddles. I have been putting bbk pads and small saddles on him before and over his youth he has liked being ponied,Lindsay came and got him moving by riding Leo, his sire around him took the lead a few times and we rode rails for a few minutes and did reverses and seprentines. then she rode down to the front gate about a quater mile and closed it while she was gone Yoda and I took off and did some riding with his impulsion no influences passenger lessons for both of us. She came back on Leo and saw him gaiting around so we ended on a good note . He had fun at least a half hour or more ....rather brave horse. I am proud.

This week end Lindsay will take photos ,hopefully . I have riden him four times now each time he is better  I am so impressed and he loves being riden ,came from pasture when he saw the tack out and I have all but taken him on a trail ride ...so far we rode with goats chased them we did lateral flexion moves and he is bitted now with a snaffle. we rode a quater mile or so down to the driveway to the paved raod with afternoon drive home traffic ,watched cars.He even got some vertical flexion (pranced)for a bit on his own, collected up and he is so quick and easy ,laid back canter though a real surprise with his playful ways. They will come(the tests) as he gets his balance with a rider as he is very willing to communicate and is smart. He is after all the Jedi teacher that came after Obi one.We still will and always will have Obi but as I learn from both and the others too I will keep you guys in the loop!http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b110/vistalargo2000/2006winterpicsyoda002-1.jpg

NICE!
Looks like a great young horse.
I love Leo's bloodlines. I knew he was by Coral, but I didn't realize his dam was PR, or so well bred! Rare to see those bloodlines so close up. No wonder that boy can largo!

Wow, what a great job the two of you have done with his training. The three of you look great. The initial training is so important on a young horse. He looks willing and totally at ease with a rider on his back. Great job you two.

THank you everyone ! :D At 14h Yoda (to me)seems small but stout & is supposed to still get bigger according to cannon size 14/2 or 3.Obi grew and inch at five years old. Yoda's dam is full Colombian =Cassanova's Tesoro KM is 14/2h thick and larger in presence.I cannot believe how much fun he is & so early in his riding training with a great trail ride away from the farm.

another hour and a half on the trails yesterday he is such a brave little sport. he did get some real fast footfall and some snorting in during his forward progress going down a cannopied by trees sort of tunnel on aa dirt road. he was so proud and quick when he advanced like a war horse going to battle and all on his own /I let him stop and advance on his own so this remains fun and exciting for him.Yes he stomped at a squirrel and did like a cowhorse does to a steer when he saw a dog.went twoard it first then spooked or whatever his stomp is. I was there for him and we moved on without incidence. What a ride. fisrt some suppling and bending doing cones visiting with the other horses through the fence since they always went and he stayed behind (he says now "it's my turn",you can almost here him say)then across the paved road & only a coulple of miles of dirt road/trail after which when w came home we did more arena and yard exercises. what a joy.

Zen(Zahen CorALeo Sinsonte) the palomino stallion 2 years old on May 9th(born on mothers day)will be worked on the ground some soon with saddle and long lines. he has been ponied on dirt roads with bareback pad as yearling and once last spring as two year old with english saddle stirrups tied on trail and bouncing here on farm. He should be easy aslo but he is so fast and athletic I had better do some mounted work while I am still young. He was 14/2&1/2hh=58.5 inches last time I sticked him but his rear has taken a bound for the sky.since this picture he is so leggy .He may go tall like his sire Al@15/2hh if I don't hurry and ride him before I shrink more.
wish I could take credit/the horses are training me.Yoda the teacher, Ed is padwawn(spelling?) =Jedi wannabe student
Sinsonte means Mockingbird=(without song in spanish)
