Santana was mentioned on another post about Contrapunto Segundo.
I thought I would also post it here. Some people were surprised that I coowned Santana since he was a yearling.
Thinking about him again has made me very sad. You sometimes don't apreciate what you have until it is gone.
Anyway.. this was my reply.
I bought half interest in Santana when he was a yearling. That never changed. It was such a loss for all of us. I didn't keep hardly any of his children, never thinking that we would loose him.
He was such a sweet boy. I bred him here his first season. Generally Debbie and I would switch him out once or twice a year. I didn't want my babies as early as she did. Her winters are so mild.
Santana had his stall that we used for him every time. He would come in after being gone for months and just walk right in. Just like he had been out in the paddock for a couple of hours.
He was very sweet and so easy for me to handle and breed. The biggest problem that I had with him is that I am short and he was a big boy.
I don't know if you ever get completely over a loss like this. He was so young and could have produced so many more babies. We just have to be thankful that we have what we have and do our best to continue to produce quality grandchildren.
