No bit... :D

(edited to add) I have one rein attatched to the nose and one to the curb.. with the curb being a little loose here in this pic.

He doesnt stay in this frame for very long at a time

Very nice Jen. He won't stay in frame very long until he builds the muscle tone to do so. Give him time, a little more each ride. Just make sure you still give the release...in fram, release, let him fall out of frame and check back into frame. Don't hold him there or he'll get hard. Keep him soft.

Good job. Keep up the good work! :D

Getting collection without a bit is so easy I dont understand why people think they would need a bit to do it.

If you need help to learn how to do it I will help.

It is so rewarding to see him coming together. :D

If he could talk he would tell you that he has tried so hard for me. He is such a willing horse.. and my soul~mate.

I think those warming up exercises has been the biggest help for him. It gets him flexing his neck/poll and makes him more able to give that pretty headset.

The pic is hard to see. What are using for a headset? A jaquima?....I can't quite understand what you are attaching the reins too. Thanks

I am using a poly trainer I bought from casadosa. Here is a pic of the trainer.

I have the reins attatched at the curb.. and at the jaw/cheek ring for his nose.

I also noticed that in the second pic you have a much more rounded back yourself, more natural seat - probably because its bareback?

I agree Adam, no need for a bit to collect. IMO if you get good collection without a bit, then you are using cues that are not even rein dependant and the bit will only be a reinforcement tool .. or for looks!

I guess you could say in the first pic I was more the passenger.. and the second pic.. I was helping him in the right direction.
