Yesterday, we had temperatures of 57 degrees, mild, sunny, a real pretty day. Last week, we even had close to 80 degrees for several days.
TODAY...we are waking up to snow, 4" (of the 2" !!! that were forecast) already, and it is still snowing. The temperature is 19 degrees---the high for today. I am surprised that the water in the horse troughs isn't frozen, just very slushy. The horses seem comfortable, none is shivering. The air is dry and it really doesn't feel that bad/cold. I'll be feeding more throughout the day (and night).
One thing, I can't believe...school isn't cancelled here, while further north schools are delayed or cancelled. My daughter just called me to tell me that she is driving 25 miles an hour on "the back road". I didn't want her to take the 4 lane highway. People are driving too fast and there were already traffic warnings. My daughter is still a very inexperienced driver with NO snow experiece...
