Tony and I went out to eat on Tuesday night. We also went to the Dollar Store which is next to Job Lot. We were tired when we got in so we didn't unload the car till last night.
When we took all of the bags in I found 2extra bags from Job Lot. I asked Tony what he had bought me and when he had gone. He denied the accusation...lol
I thought for sure he was trying to pull one over on me before Christmas.
But the other bag had a weird assortment of things that I would have no need for. Walnuts, pie filling, stove covers. You all know I don't cook.
Yep, somehow we ended up with someone else's purchases.
There are two possibilities. One is that someone put the bags in my car by accident and didn't notice.
The other is that she left her bags in the Dollar Store and we accidentally picked them up with our stuff when we loaded up our cart. We were buying things for the party so we had about 6 bags of stuff. It might have gotten mixed up in there. I don't remember seeing any of those bags before, though. I think I'd notice a bag of clothes and heavy items when we're buying little plates and things for the chocolate party.
Hmmmm, so I called Job Lot and asked if there was someone looking for some bags of stuff she'd lost. At first the woman thought I was crazy and I almost hung up. I was a little embarassed. She wanted to know what I had found and I wouldnt tell her. I figured if someone had really lost it they could tell ME what was in the bag.
Well, the woman went off to ask the store manager if anyone had been asking for missing bags...and viola......they have the name and number of a woman who lost her bags.
Either I'm a klepto or the woman wasn't paying attention to which car she threw her bags into. I have a black Explorer and there are tons of those around.
On my way home tonight I'll be driving to Job Lot with those bags. The woman was laughing her butt off when I explained how I'd found them and had been insistent that my husband was trying to hide my Christmas presents in the party stuff.
Why is doing the right thing sometimes so embarassing? I'm going to go drop off the bags tonight and run..........lol
And in my mind I'm going to remember this incident as the time we found extra bags in our car.......rather than the time I ran off with some woman's stuff from a store.........
