My outdoor thermometer says it is -7 degrees here this morning!
I see the sun peeking on the horizon.....could it be? Could it be the temps will get above 32 degrees so that I might leave tomorrow for Tennessee?
TIME will tell..I hate it when things come down to the last possible minute because of WEATHER.....
Yesterday, all schools here were closed due to snow, today..it is a two hour delay due to frozen roads..and tomorrow? Can I get OUT of this state tomorrow?
HHHmmmmmmm..... ;-)
Please wish me luck..I have people waiting for their horsies!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Terry, I really think you should wait an extra week to truck those horses. ;-) ;-) ;-)

I'd like to Barbwire.... but one owner is not too happy about the prospect... ;-)

Aww man! Come on now, I REALLY, REALLY think you should wait an extra week!!! (stops packing, and waits with great trepidation for your reply)

Terry, if you don't make it out tomorrow, you won't make it out Saturday, since another storm is to move in that day. After that, it is supposed to be nice and much warmer. You should make it "IN" just fine.
"Down here", we had no school closures. We hardly ever have those around here. Poor Melissa drove 25 miles/hr to school. Today, her school has a two hour delay, which doesn't happen often, at all, either.
I need to go out feed....BRRRRRR....The sun is out and it looks pretty...and COLD.
Have a safe trip, Terry!

I am waiting to hear back about next Thursday being a possibility....
that means I'd leave here Wednesday....possibly Tueday noon-ish. ;-)

Is mercury in retrograde or somehing? I have four horses leaving this weekend so four more can come in this weekend and the scheduling keeps getting changed on all of them. I have no idea when horses are coming or going any more. It's all just very confusing but at some point the world will stop spinning and the horses will land in the right stalls. Hopefully.

Terry it looks like you will be chasing that storm all the way. It take Missouri and Tennesee some time to clean up afterwords. I went through Memphis two days after the storm last Xmas and the roads were still a sheet of ice.

I have cancelled leaving for tomorrow... I cannot be caught in a snow storm on I-70 with three horses in the trailer and my trailer water tank trying to freeze up... I just won't risk it.
Saturday is a remote possibility...more likely next Wednsday for a Thursday delivery...
I hate being at the mercy of the weather... I saw the predicted storm just a while ago on the Today Show... ;-)

I think Wednesday sounds like a VERY good day to leave. ;-) (poised over my suitcase, parka in hand)

Have hope Terry...we're up to 21 now. Of course, it didn't get below zero here either...
It's supposed to warm up this weekend. Not balmy by any means, but low 40's anyway.

It's 60 here today and I just got back from riding in my shorts and t-shirt! 8-)
Jodi, it never hurts to have your bags packed just in case an opportunity to travel falls in your lap. ;-)

I just came in from outside. It really isn't that bad, temperature-wise. Blue cloudless skies, crisp air, and sun! I don't need a jacket. The air feels great, BUT nothing is melting. No water dripping anywhere. The snow is like powder, can't even form a snowball. Snow is staying on the evergreens, water is frozen.
A friend just came by to borrow a space heater to unthaw her water pipes going to her pump house...
I am always amazed at this weather. You would think it's bonechilling cold with temps under 30 degrees, BUT it really doesn't feel that way in the sun. That's why I love the winters here.
Hardly any mud, since the sun takes the snow away before it sinks into the ground. Of course, it's bad for the ground that doesn't get the moisture it needs....
Terry, very wise decision! I think it will be worse east of us. There it gets icy on the roads and a horse trailer doesn't do so well. The new owners should be happy, too, since the storm is going their way and they don't have to mess with settling the horses in this mess.

Terry,
I would wait a few days. We had ice and sleet all day today and it's supposed to start snowing...calling for 6-10 inches tonight.
In Missouri, you're looking at a couple of days to get it cleaned up. It was 75 yesterday.
If you get tired aroiund St. Louis, I have a spare bed.

Jan...wouldja please PM me your phone number?
St. Loius is my half-way point... just in case, please get me your number! ;-)
The new plan is to leave here Tuesday noon-ish and get there to Deb.'s on Wed. afternoon/evening...so horses can be picked up first thing in the a.m. on Thursday....
I'm so glad I did not leave yesterday..or today. I'd much rather have clear roads, and not have to drive in fuel-sucking 4WD at 35 miles an hour...for hours & hours & hours!!
I heard there was a pile up on the St. Louis bridge.... I think they need a few days to clean up after this storm!!
This MUST mean dinner at Outback tonight! Instead of....'Wendy's on the Road"..... ;-)

We had so much wind three large trees came down. More work on the fences since two of them landed on the fence. GRRRRR
Take care Terry!!

Leaving tomorrow... will be fueling the truck here shortly, bedding the trailer, and filling the water tank...
I wish I could have found someone to go with me, but nobody could....Oh well.... gotta do what I gotta do...
Hopefully the roads will be clear and the trip uneventful! ;-)

She's hoping to make Topeka by midnight, and be here around Noon tomorrow. I'll talk to her again in the a.m. and update! :D

What kind of a silly question is that? LEAVE WORK NOW! The queen is coming to your house and you are considering staying at work? You crazy, lady!
Helene

That CRAZY woman! I did that trip one time without stopping and I wasn't driving, either.
I wanted so badly to go with her, had even planned to, but my husband got unexpected days off -- he usually has to put in for his vacations a year in advance--. He is helping his parents move and will be looking for some land for us....Someone has to stay home and manage emerging crises, like frozen water pipes (happened the day after he left), electrical problems, etc.
Her way home should be somewhat easier...hopefully, she'll get some sleep...

Terry arrived with the horses safe and sound around 12:30....
Bianca HATED the mares that Kim bought, but they are gone - so hopefully she'll warm up to Darius. Jochi LOVED Sarafina, he was courting her big time...I think he forgot he's a gelding.
I haven't taken any pics, but he's awesome!! I promise to get some this weekend.

Videos of Turista? All she has to do is ask. Dallas is here safe and sound. She is a bit nervous but seems to be pretty smart and sweet. Time will tell, we will see.
