Ok, so I open up a 28 oz can of baked beans, dump them into a plastic bowl and put them in the microwave for a few minutes. When I check, they are waaay too hot to eat, so I just leave them in the bowl on the counter. I decide to go for a short ride on Amante while I'm waiting for them to cool and off I go.
I get back from my ride to find that the mini schnauzer I am dog sitting has somehow knocked the bowl off the counter and has scarfed up every last bean.
Is she gonna blow?
Isn't what that commercial for Beano is for?

All I know is make sure no one lights a match around her or smokes around her. You may not have anything left. ;-)

And YOU wanted Cricket???? You are irresponsible. You cannot have a dog. Why did you not take that dog riding with you? Hmmmm? He needs the exercise. Schnausers need LOTS of exercise. He will fart bad, and I hope you are in the same room with him when it happens.

Ya know what the kicker is? Tomorrow I am scheduled to clean their house! I hope they don't use up all the paper towels that I will need to do the windows picking up dog poo and puke. http://www.jammerbabe.com/flotilla/images/smiles/crossfingers.gif

There seems to be some question as to how these particular beans will affect this particular dog. I will clarify and say said beans are Bush's brand Homesyle flavor. "Tangy sauce with bacon & brown sugar." The dog is a 3 year old mini Schnauzer. There, does that help any?

How big was the can?
You could always put a cork there. Just in case.

That's a lot of beans!
I think you're going to have to fess up.
True Confession: If you do that 'sniff sniff' sound with your nose in my house, both dogs will get up and leave the room. And they didn't learn that after eating beans...plane Old Roy. LOL

I heard a very LOUD gurgle! I just put her out on the deck to brew a bit more.
Lord have mercy on her greedy little soul!
Her owners just called, and they are picking her up 2 hours later than originally planned. Dang! I better get the paper towels handy!

I'd sell her on Ebay as a secret weapon.
Or I'd take her out to the nearest beer joint. Those guys would never know the difference. Though, I wouldn't stop at my favorite watering hole, if you know what I mean.
Or hire her out. I know some places where she'd be useful.
Or you could bottle her "essence" and sell it to those back to nature freaks.
If you're really handy, you could light 'er up and watch the fireworks.
Or use her as a potato gun, just would need the butt ammo. Those little new potatoes would work.

Now is the time to fry some onions, cook some cabbage and some slightly over the hill fish and serve up a big batch of either sourkraut or kim chee is even better. The owners will never notice the dog. You could also be sure to do all their windows with concentrated ammonia tomorrow. pooch will smell good by comparison!

25 return posts for a bean-eating dog?????

I didn't think a 28 oz can of anything could fit in a min schnauzer.
I really don't feel too sorry for you or the owners. You see, Cara apparently has a deer carcass stashed somewhere, and she doesn't monitor freshness. I'd really trade that for a belly full of beans right now!
You could get a can of ping pong balls and use her for ping pong practice.

on the down side of the story is if the beans are at all spicy.... the dog could get the runs.... then intestional stress which makes the stools bloody, then mucus adds to the bloody mess from the sides of the walls stripping down, then you have an intestional track on a death course..... Dogs die from intestional stress... I learned the hard way giving my left over spagitti to my cocker... 48 hours on IV's and I almost lost her....
No more human food for the dogs....

Well, she seems to be fine, just farts every once in a while. She just had a normal BM, so I think she's OK.

I wish my home computer was fixed....do you have any idea how hard it is to hide laughing like a hyena in a central office?
Yep, Britzlove, know just what you're talking about. our office is 20 X 30? Maybe?
it's hard not to spray coffee out your nose before you make it across the room to the bathroom in front of 5 guys.

Amore is just fine. She farted a bunch and pooped a bit, but no vomitting or loose stools. I tell you what, those terrier types are some tough pooches.

Glad to hear pooch is OK. Honestly dogs will eat anything - the deader and smellier the better!!!
Our 12 inch 15 pound beagle ate an entire dutch oven of somewhat burned beef with broccoli once. She also got into the pantry and climbed up three sets of shelves and ate an entire bag of chocolate chips. She had no symptoms or digestive upset from either. She was mentally unbalanced though but not from her diet. She was always like that from puppyhood. Kyle said the part of her brain that dealt with smell and appetite was huge and the rest was non existent!!
