Welcome Carol D. and thanks for the info! Tell us more about your paso! We really love pics too.
Thanks, Laura. I'm just learning my way around the forum so not sure about posting a pic since I'm on a Mac. I managed the avatar but that had a 'browse' option.
Maybe I should be posting this as a 'new topic' intro under Newbie instead of reply? But here goes:
My mare is Rafaga de Viento (Windy), is a 9 yr old bay by Nino del Companero (PPR) out of Amorosa de Dulce, a Fernando Bravo daughter ex PPR mare. I'm strictly a pleasure /trail rider and still have a lot to learn about PFs.

Hey your learning really quick! I finally figured out how to do the quote thing a few months ago.
To post pics, you need to upload them onto a photo website like www.photobucket.com. You can upload for free, then when you get your pictures there just copy the address below your picture that has the IMG tags on both sides, then paste here in reply.
Your mare sounds very nice! I mostly trail ride too, and do some shows for fun. My plan is to try competitive trail, but maybe will try that next summer. My mare will just be 5 then, so she still has lots to learn. :D

Carol D - Thanks you so much for that information on DSLD. It is such a sad problem and I do hope they can find the gene for it so it can be tested for and eliminated. We learned about it about six years ago because we have a hyperflexy paso fino and were quite concerned that she might have it. She was seriously injured a couple of years ago but has recovered and the vets say she does not have DSLD, just very flexy suspensories. We've just been told to make all training changes and riding changes very gradual.
We have 11 paso finos and one pure Puerto Rican paso fino and we do love all the different "styles".
Welcome to the board!!

Thanks! NE Washington and N. Idaho has several nice Paso Fino farms.
My mare is from Hacienda de los Ninos south of Cour de Laine, ID.
Tad bit drier over there than we are here on the West side- and much nicer riding country.

You are almos there.
When you are on photobucket, look for the IMG tags under the thumbnail size pix and then just copy and paste the whole thing here in the post.
You can do it like you did above, but then you have to use the IMG button here to add the tags.
URL
Make sure the first is w/o a / in it, and the last one does have an /.

Gee, there ARE lots of Carols. And to top it off, there are at least 3 Carols in the NW PF club counting myself and another Carole that lives about 20 minutes away.

Welcome Carol!!
I lived in eastern WA most of my life. I lived near Moses Lake, so not as pretty as where you live. My uncle lives near Ione (up near the Canadian border). I was there last summer for a visit - it's beautiful up there. Lots of mtn lions and bears, though!
You have some beautiful horses, BTW!!

Thanks for the welcome, Debbie. My folks used to go bird hunting at the Moses Lake Pot Holes when I was a kid, long ago. I loved it, though if I were going to move to the E. side, I'd go more up north near where your uncle is.
You're right, there are lots of wild critters, though. I have only been through the Black Hills once, but I remember them as being nice, too.
