RALEIGH, N.C. -- A Raleigh family known for helping underprivileged people despite their own difficulties will be getting some help thanks to a popular television show.
The ABC television show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" will tear down William and Linda Riggins' two-bedroom, one-bathroom home in the Mordecai of Raleigh, then spend the following five days building a new one in its place. Their house is said to be falling apart.
The Riggins have three children, ages 6, 4 and 3.
A spokeswoman for the family says William Riggins is legally blind. He was a tailor before losing most of his sight. Linda Riggins is a social worker who's been limited for some time because of severe arthritis in both hips.
Yet, the two are involved in a local ministry which helps underprivileged children and which encourages empowerment for low-income families.
Demolition of the existing home is tommorrow. There is a lot of area BUZZ about this. Area contractors have donated their services.
Has it come to your area? The show is suppose to be doing an Extreme Home Makeover in every state. That is such a nice thing to do for people who need it!
