And the roads are all ready cleared - We had an "official" blizzard - and then the sun came out ! Hubby used snowblower and I did some shoveling and we can get around the yard great -
I need to take pics in the AM - Should have today -
I'm not dumb - got groceries yesterday and stayed home
Wish my hubby and son-in-law luck - they have to go to (SW lower) Sodus, Mich., to pick up a 1929 Case C tractor in the AM - it was my hubby's Grandfather's - cousin died and told us we could have it free for the hauling - naturally we have the first major snowstorm in years
BTW - the temp Wed was 61 ! Will be in teen's at night - May get up to 30s' this week -
At least we ALL know why the horses got such really heavy coats this year

... thats alot of snow!
I wish them luck gettting the tractor... but maybe they should postpone it until next weekend ?? That much snow makes for some dangerous conditions.

Penny, my horses have heavy coats too, and got them early. I think we're in for a doozy of a winter. The forecasters say not. But then they also said it would be a bad hurricane season this year, and were wrong.
I wish them a safe trip.
It is snowing here now. This storm is not a dumper here (except in the mountains where they got 3 FEET of new snow). We get a few inches, then get some more 12-24 hours later.
Can't wait to see your pictures! Nothing like sun on fresh snow.

Guys left at 6:30 AM and were home at 2:30 with the tractor - roads were totally clear and smooth sailing through Chicago and back ! They were shocked - seems where they went - snow didn't hit there - sort of a pocket - they only get rain and a little sleet yesterday .
It is a sorry little tractor - but should be cute when restored ! They checked the serial number - it is a 1930 - not 1929 .

That isn't the same storm they are saying will be here on Monday, is it? We are expecting snow but I thought it was going to be more like a dusting.

The storm will probably head mostly out to sea and skim the coast. So they are predicting a little snow, then rain.
Sunday night: Partly cloudy skies this evening will give way to cloudy skies with light rain and snow developing overnight. Low 33F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precip 70%.
Monday: Rain and snow in the morning. A snow shower or two in the afternoon - otherwise, mostly cloudy. High 38F. Winds NNW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of precip 80%.
Guess I better hang my heated buckets

Hey, I've been waiting to use my indoor heated buckets!
I started using my outdoor large heated bucket and I think it's hysterical to watch them with it. They stand around it and sip the water like it's tea.
Someone told me that horses drink more water in the winter if it's warm. I don't know how true that is with all horses but it's definately true here. The buckets in the barn wont' freeze until it's below freezing all day, too, but they still choose the water outside in the heated bucket. I guess I would, too.
