They said he is sweet as can be, loaded nicely and a bit dirty from rolling in mud LOL
We got him in a trade and he is old enough to ride, just needs polishing since it's been a while since he was last ridden. He is 5 yrs old and his name is TJ.
Now comes the long trip back. Snow and ice and mud where they have been. Hurry on home boys.

Stallion, right? Look at those old bloodlines! Are you going to leave him a stud?

Yes, we do unless we find any problems. We don't take it lightly. It's why Delgado is being gelded.
My pops said he was sweet as a baby though. So, we will see. I'm pretty darned excited.

TJ above
Delgado the 2 1/2 yr old Paso Palomino Stallion (to be gelded)
Rocket the Perlino Paso Fino/Peruvian Paso almost 2 (now gelded and in TN.)
and the 2 1/2 yr old Bay Saddlebred Stallion (will be gelded in Spring if no one buys him) for sale or trade or glue... I am so damn felxible will take payments, trade for good working 4wd atv, willing to split $ if someone takes him and sells him, or 10% commission to someone who gets him sold.
We just have a few more to add but in reality unless it's a trade has to wait until our house is sold. We got real lucky with TJ.
I got the red carpet all ready for his unloading LOL

Thought that beautiful face was familiar! I have had 4 Turabo offspring, 2 of which I still have. My gelding is out of Turabo and Gitana de Montana who is a full sister to Vega Baja. I'll post pics of our gelding and I think I have a pic of Vaho as well.
You really have something there! When Turabo came to Pa from down south he was a mess, hated men and mean as a snake!(he had been badly abused) I am friends with the lady who had him, she said he had her heart like no other, and his offspring all have his heart (or atleast all that I have seen) and Vaho was so regal and loving. National Pleasure champ in the early 90's (I think).
Turabo and Vaho both died in a barn fire maybe 10 years ago.
If my mare were not so closely related I would breed to him in a heart beat!!! How tall is he?

this is Vaho de Montana at age 20. He was the 1990 International Grand Champion Pleasure and Performance Stallion.

He's 14.2, right height for us. = )
And wow he does look like your gelding!
I am counting down the minutes here and I think they won't be here until dark tonight so I'll have to wait until Thursday for some recent pics of him.
I may have to fight Troy for this one, he may already be in love LOL

I rememeber Turabo. I believe it was right after he came from PR and he lived in Georgia. He WAS mean as a snake. Took a chunk out of his Puerto Rican trainers arm one day. This colt looks very much like him. Not that I think this colt will be mean, just that he looks very much like Turabo.

OMG OMG.
Jenn, you put me on a list, you keep that TJ stud, cuz I want a baby in a few years. He looks JUST like his pa, except for not being black.
Turabo ended up at Zona Butler's after his bad rep nearly got HIM killed, she saw something in him. That horse loved her. Yes he was "mean" but then he'd been pretty roughly treated in PR, killed a man or two down there, and its not like he was a big horse, he was tiny. And FINO, omg.
The summer that I was at Zona's, she one day decided to put the Turbohorse in with a few mares to breed. TOTAL personality change. When I got up the next morning, you wanna talk about one worn out puppy. I went to fill the water tub, and he came over and got the hose in his mouth and had a good drink. Then he stuck his face in the stream. That was my cue, Mr Man got a bath and he loved it. No halter, I was on the other side of the fence, but he wanted that bath. Afterwards, that mean old killer horse came over to me and nuzzed me for a kiss.
One of the things that Zona told me about Turabo is that he had a limit for riding, he knew how long a class was supposed to last and that is all you got. One minute longer and he would toss yer butt real good. And HAIR! he had a mane that was at least 3 feet long, forelock was all down his nose...
Of course is absolutely tore me up when I learned that he'd died in her barn fire back in 95/96 blizzard. She lost her great stallions.. Vaho was in there, and I believe his son Al Vaho.
TJ's Dam line, (X factor) is great, Vaho was very prepotent not only for gait, but great disposition. As was Turabo! Zona wasn't fooling around with the bloodlines she had, and you have a lot of that in TJ's pedigree. Turabo, as mean as he was, put out sweet sweet babies, esp the fillies (and there were a lot of them!) His meanness was man made, under all that, had he had a different life, I can guarantee he would have been as sweet as his get.
Jenn, MAJOR CONGRATS on getting TJ!!! He really looks just like his daddy.

I'm very happy with TJ so far. He reminds me of the very first Paso I saw that won me over forever to the breed.
Unless there are major problems I think it would be a big loss to geld TJ.
PPR lines need to be saved and I think we'll be very selective should we decide to breed.

Yes it would be a loss to geld that horse, he carries some great stuff. Just be aware that he is a stallion, no matter how nice, never turn your back. I love my Bri to pieces, will never geld him, and he is just as sweet as it gets, wrote the book on manners, but I never ever forget that he has tatas. Same goes for my Encantador, he's a pushover, but he's got bags, and is a little more um friendly than Bri.. I think with stallions, one has to be very honest about what is training issues and what is studly issues, its a very very fine line with the boys. One thing I do love about Pasos though, that I have experienced at any rate, is that there is a much higher proportion of truly nicely tempermented horses in this breed. If htey are loved and respect the owners, its a cinch, but still, don't turn your back and end up blaming the horse for operator error.
uh - no, I'm not excited at all...... and my name is Bob. HAHAHAHAHA

So have you ridden him yet? Where is the report?
JennLM

He was a bit sore from the trip so we gave him a week off and piddled around with him yesterday and he is much improved but I want to give him another week.
His training has to be refreshed and I will be having a trainer get on his back first LOL I value my rear axle to stay in place just in case.
I'll toss a saddle on him next week since he seems to have more recolelction in the roundpen now and getting the hang of it again. He can't help but be a bit rusty since it's been a few yrs since he was ridden.
I was in with him today giving him a pepermint and all of a sudden I was his best friend. I was doing flexes with him using it and he is a sweet puppy dog.
When we worked him a bit yesterday to see how his leg was, he did OK for me but came to life when Troy was in with him. Grrr damn him being in love with Troy.
I tried taking pictures but the last bunch were pretty fuzzy due to the dust in the air. How on earth do you take good pics when it's dusty??
You can tell he is listening to Troy in most of the pictures. In the last 2 he was listening to Troy and I called him and he turned around to give me a dirty look. LOL
He is pretty darned dusty too. Took us a while to get his mane and tail brushed out. He has tail to spare too, wow.
Troy saying hi to him then getting a big hug from TJ
