Here's my two geldings (turning 4 this year) in part of their groundwork pre-riding training.... trail walking on New Year's eve.

What good boys, they look so willing and smart. Is Flash the one that you posted pictures of before? I'm referring to the self loading pics with him jumping out of the trailer.

Barb, yeah Flash will get in and out of the horse trailer if the door is open. Galactico will too...they actually teach the younger horses not to be afraid of the horse trailer and explore it. Flash will walk over about anything... he did let out a couple of loud snorts on the trail walk...may have been a deer in the area. This was the first day for him with the english sadle on him...it didn't phase him. After a few more saddle lessons he'll be ready for a lightweight youth rider.
Both have been thru the woods running loose while I have ridden another horse since they were young. This was the first time I walked them thru the woods farther away from the barn area by themselves.
Davina my coming 5 yr Capuchino filly and Flash's half sister is the one I have who loves to go in the woods. She would never miss a chance to follow along when I ride in the woods on the farm if I let her. A month ago, I had saddled her and took her on a trail walk, halfway thru the trail walk, I got on her and we finished the last half of the ride mounted. She had only had a rider on about 3 times over the past 1 1/2...so I was pleased. I didn't have any other horses along, and it didn't phase her. Davina was one I gave an extra year to mature mentally and physically before much training riding ...as her brios made her get real excited when ground lunging her. The little grulla 2005 filly Espirita is their half sister too. Davina gets going this spring under saddle steady...she has really grown and filled out this past year as a 4 year old.

Wow, Flash looks great...and that purple tail of his is awesome. I am glad to hear that he is doing so well and learning so much. He seems like he will be a great ambassador!
