Turns out Dante did not have cellulits at all but a rare disease called Purputa Hemmorrigica or Immune Mediated Vasculitius. His immune system turning on itself basically. Then to top it off his suspensorys broke down to the point he could barely stand without being brace wrapped. So it is a sad heart that I must tell you all that the decision was made to put him down. He was only two and a half and to not be able to run and play anymore was making him depressed. He was spending most of his time in his stall and laying down. He was left go earlier this morning. Thanks to all for your support and prayers and out pouring of love to both of us. There is one person in particular I wish to Thank and that is Carol U. She PMd me continousily through this whole ordeal and no words can express to her how much it meant to me. Bless all of you for everything.

Kathy, you know how very sorry I am, just totally heart broken for you.

To everyone else, I can't begin to tell you how hard they worked to save this colt and what he went through these past few weeks.

He is now out of pain and that is a blessing.

Tears here...I'm so very sorry.

I am so sorry. I believe that decision is the hardest to make and requires the greatest love. You are in my thoughts.

I am so very sorry Kathy, its most definitely extra tough when its such a young horse. Thank you so much for writing here, so we can have an opportunity to learn more about this rare disease.
I know its equally heartbreaking to have that feeling of helplessness, but your decision IS such help for Dante. He is in peace and comfort now.

I'm sorry folks got on tonight and realized that I spelled the word Purpura wrong. I had a t in there instead of an r. Guess I didn't notice it through the blurry eyes. Much thanks to everyone for your hugs, prayers and love. It was tough to go through but then I'm not the only one on this BB suffering losses or heartbreaks either and believe you me I think of you all everyday. I may not get on and post but my thoughts are with you all. I could not bring myself to go the stables today but I will stop tomorrow and check on his Mom. Just to upset yet today. Thank you everyone.
