Quentin Tarantino is filming his new movie in our town. They were doing a car chase scene in front of our house. We have had production people at the end of our driveway directing traffic for the past few days.
They set up a phony drive-in marquis that we could see from our balcony. We are up on a hill, so we had a pretty good view. The kids and I got to see them drive a car through it. My boys were BEYOND excited.
I am not much of a name dropper, but it has been pretty fun seeing all the stuff they have set up around town, and the production people have been really nice - not the super phony Hollywood types. Yesterday they had a fake fireworks stand up the road. We could hear them doing their car stunts.
I took video of them doing the stunt we could see, but through the camera it looked pretty far away.
As long as the traffic control doesn't interfere with all of my last minute shopping, it is okay by me!

Cuba Gooding JR filmed "The Fighting Tempations" in Social Circle, a twon south of us, but in our county. One of our woman deputies was assigned to CG Jr and he called her Lady Deputy and she said he was the nicest actor she'd ever met. Very polite and friendly.
As a child, Mother was driving us (me and sis) into town to go grocery shopping with her and we saw filming at a local Drive-In that was reminiscent of the good-ole-days. It had wonderful cars in the lot; long cars with fins and big cars with rounded fenders and chrome bumpers. I never did learn what movie it was for.
Just before I moved to Sonora, CA they had completed filming for the 3rd Bck to the Future movie just outside of town. Someone I worked with was an extra in the movie, she was one of the women carrying a basket on the covered boardwalk during the duel scenes.
She told me the extras had STRICT instructions about how to behave around the 'stars'. They did set aside time for the extras to meet the stars, get autographs and ask questions, but at no other time were they supposed to approach the principal actors.

Sounds like fun!
We were extras in a football movie filmed in Columbia SC. We actually got paid $20 to sit in the stadium and drink hot chocolate and cheer when they cued us. The camera work was the most interesting part. We didn't get to meet anyone famous though.

Way cool. 8-)
When I lived at a different condo on the beach, they filmed The Transporter 2 right in front of my building. We watched them film several scenes. Very cool.

Eons ago, filming for the movie "Ghost Story" took place in my home town. Fred Astaire was seen at the town store, and Hollywood magic had the whole town abuzz. One scene in the movie involves a car breaking through the ice and sinking. It was filmed at the resevoir near my house. One day, I rode my horse over to see the filming. I came out on a trail that led around the res. and rode right up to the camera crews. BOY were the mad a me! I had ruined the pristine snow scene with my horse's hoof prints, and they had to boot up the snow machines to cover it all up.

They did part of the third Pirates movie here out on the Salt Flats. We had Johnny Depp in town AND the Black Pearl. That should give you a hint of what's coming! LOL
Utah has tax incentives for movie companies. We have them all the time, it's like 'old hat' to have the highway shut down for filming. Touched by an Angel was done here and they were all over.

Since we are only a couple hours from Los Angeles/Hollywood, our little valley is a popular place for celebrities to visit or live. They all want to become gentlemen farmers ;-)
Right off the top of my head some of the people who live near by are Noah Wiley, Kelly LeBrock, Cheryl Ladd, David Crosby, blah blah. I think they like that the people around here are pretty cool and don't mob them.
The film Sideways was shot here. So, if you can tolerate the trashy content of the film, you can see what my neck of the woods looks like. Now we see people taking pictures of themselves in front of the restaurant in the film, and the second rate motel featured in the film is now a popular destination spot. (snicker snicker)

How cool, Lori!
And Carol - Wow! Johnny Depp - you're lucky (and Orlando Bloom, I would hope too ;-) )
Lots of movies/commercial/concerts are filmed here. VH1, CMT, etc are here during the Sturgis Rally every year. CMT filmed Big N Rich in Deadwood summer before last and I got to work for them while they were here (along with 38 Special, Survivor, and some of the HBO Deadwood series people.) That was pretty fun. Dances with Wolves was filmed here. Bruce Willis filmed something here a few years back and he bought me a drink at the local bar. He's also a very good harmonica player!
Many years ago, I got to ride one of the white Arab horses with one of the cast of Rambo 3 I believe. This was in Arizona. That was pretty cool. Hubby was a little jealous, though. As I rode off with a total stranger dressed like a shiek ;-) How could I say no??

Bruce Willis was here in our small town filming In Country. Didnt get to met him or Demi.. but my brother in laws chickens were selected for the background scene. I did get to watch them film a scene about midnight. It was pretty neat...but the overall movie was blah.... :-?

Hmmm... I wonder if this is based on the book: "In Country" by Nelson DeMille? NDeM is a fave author of ours. He wrote "General's Daughter" which was made into a movie (Travolta), though I think there are better books of his to turn into movies, like Plum Island.

No, this movie was based on a book written by our own hometown native Bobby Ann Mason.

A few years back Cuba Gooding was filming in Griffin GA, I never found out what movie. But the production people were butt heads.
I worked in a building that overlooked one of the main scenes. The production people stated they would confiscate any camera they saw taking photo's. Of course that ment I HAD to take photos  . They never bothered me though. It was actually pretty boring, hours of set up for seconds of filming.
I am NOT a fan of "stars". I'm sure some are very nice "real" people, but what is on TV about them is pretty disgusting.
